You can buy one if you want, but Comcast won't activate them.

If you want a DVR, get a Series 3 Tivo. Otherwise, you'll have to keep paying the rental fee.

Yes. They allow for CableCards which will make your Tivo Addressable and able to decrypt the channels.
Of course youll fork out a few hundred for the Tivo and a monthly fee for the cablecards.

1 edit
you would pay the service fee to tivo, so you will still pay monthly no matter which box you choose.

Well, I want another Satellite radio and not have to pay the monthly fee for the service.. but then it would just be a paperweight.

No.. but saying a good place to find an answer like that is on a forum that has 9 posts and 9 topics.. none of which address this issue and was set up the same day.. especially after it was already answered is a little cheesy.. and spammy.
Im not boasting. My forum doesn't answer any questions.

or TivoHD....If Comcast was not getting the Tivo service for their boxes I might be looking at the TivoHD...

Tumbleweeds yes, but one I found one thing interesting...

Time Warner instructions for a Samsung HDTV cable box?

You never see the front of the thing, but the back does not look Motorola or SA to me.

Didn't think this was out yet. I like to see STB options from various manufacturers. I don't see a Cable Card slot on this box however, shame shame... Won't be seeing one of these anytime soon.
