At least you guys are getting PowerBoost. My 6Mbps is rock solid, granted, but it would be nice if I were getting the PowerBoost download feature as advertised. I've seen in on a friend's connection in a nearby Atlanta suburb, and it's very handy when it works.
Long-term -- yeah -- they need to just improve their system.

IronChefMorimoto What modem do you have? If it is DOCSIS 1.0 you will never get Powerboost.

I'm pretty sure this is a DOCSIS 2.0 modem, but I could be wrong.

You could be pulling a DOCSIS 1.0 Config file that would cause problems. That link has some other people experiencing the same thing. Hope it points you in the right direction. -- »www.memphispcguy.com |

| reply to MemphisPCGuy said by MemphisPCGuy :IronChefMorimoto What modem do you have? If it is DOCSIS 1.0 you will never get Powerboost. I have a linksys BEFCMU10 modem. The web screen says it is DOCSIS 1.0 Currently the signal status screen says I am at 6M for download. Am I correct to assume that I should see a 12M download status if power boost is going to be able to kick in? My modem was advertised to be upgradable to DOCSIS 2.0, but comcast has never upgraded it. I see some failures in the log files that I am suspicious that they might be trying to upgrade. How high can docsis 1.0 go? comcast made a mistake for a few hours and set me to 8M/768K, but I could not make it work. I had to force them to take me back to 6M and then all was ok. Am I on the right track??? |

| The "V2" is not DOCSIS 2.0 capable & Comcast does not update it to DOCSIS 1.1.
If possible, I would replace the modem. -- Write me up a 125.......I Can't Drive 55 »redrocker.com/ »cabowabo.com/ |

I went many rounds with linksys a couple years ago on this issue. The box the router came in said it was DOCSIS 2.0 capable. Linksys blames it on the cable company not providing the upgrade. I think it was false advertising on linksys' part. The modem has been stable since the firmware upgrade a couple years back. Guess I'll leave it all alone for now since I want stability (using voip). |
