SunRocket Sold Mailing Info!!

I have reason to believe that SR sold our addresses because I just received an ad in the mail from Vonage today. I know it was SR that did it because my account had both my name and my wife's name on it and they mispelled her name. Vonage spelled it exactly how SR did! None of the ads usually come with my name and my wife's name both on it. Until now, I have never received an ad from Vonage. Anyone also receive a letter in the mail from Vonage?

Yep. And promptly filed accordingly.

They must have sold them. Look at the URL on the offer card.

Yeah, I'm 100% positive they did. How does Vonage know I am a former SunRocket customer? The URL is www.vonage.com/sunrocket2

I'm surprised it wasn't from Lisa Hook.

I just got one today also. It is quite apparent the addresses were sold, as mine even mentions being a Sunrocket subscriber.

I got one also. I haven't been with Sunrocket since May 2006. Looks like Sherwood will do anything for a buck.

... as will Vonage.

(Or most any business, I imagine.)

Freakin' spammers.

This seems like the same thing Sherwood Schwartz Partners did with us to Teleblender. Do we have any recourse against Sherwood for violating Sunrocket's Privacy Policy?

Collection and Use of Information
SunRocket collects and uses personally identifiable information - such as name, e-mail address, and credit card information - for billing and provisioning of service, to solve problems associated with service, and to inform customers and prospective customers of new SunRocket products or services that will better meet their needs. SunRocket may also collect such information from prospective customers through promotional campaigns it may occasionally conduct. SunRocket may share such information with business partners to ensure the successful provisioning and operation of its services and to facilitate the marketing of SunRocket products and services. However, SunRocket does not sell, trade, or disclose personally identifiable information to third parties for unrelated marketing purposes. In addition, any customer who wishes not to receive information about new or different SunRocket products or services may decline to receive such offers.

Yeah I got that today too. Haven't taken a good look at it yet. But when I saw SR written in there somewhere, I figured that's what happened.

Perhaps the more pertinent questions is "what does Sherwood's privacy policy say?"

We never agreed to Sherwood's privacy policy. Is this theft of personal information by Sherwood Partners? Would Sherwood Partners not have to abide by the Privacy Policy the customers agreed to?

I don't think sherwood can swap the Sunrocket policy out for their own unless you agree to it.

This looks like a viable lawsuit against Sherwood Partners not SunRocket. So it could very easily be winnable against a company with assets.

So what about this? Must be that auto password change-spam forwarding option they forgot to tell us about. Any attorney out there care to comment?
