Well, they could say it's only for new customers.

Looks like it is similarly priced to what I am paying now. I wonder if I switched to the SAFA, which would be coming in on a different pair, if I would be able to get the 6.0?

Currently my line does not qualify for 6.0, but it sure would be nice if I could get it by changing over to SAFA.

I don't see why not. I use VoIP (SIP and IAX) just fine with my Asterisk box.

Re: SAFA (Stand Alone FastAccess) - Confirmed today

You can port your home phone number out to another carrier (VOIP/Cell) but you might want to tell the service rep before ya switch over, once the line become a Dry Line there is no active phone service and LNP requires the line be active with no pending orders.

You need to switch to Lingo or whatever VOIP carrier you choose BEFORE you disconnect your line with BS er, um, ATT as the line must be live when they do the port - if you disconnect your line before subscribing to Lingo they cannot port the number.

However, if you don't care about your current phone number and want a brand new one, go ahead and sign up for SAFA, disconnect the number and buy in store or call to order your Lingo box.

Enjoy the switch to VOIP... Long time user here and it works flawlessly on DSL (cable, not so much).

When you call to order SAFA, tell them to cancel your voice at the same time. With SAFA, you can't have voice anyway.

SAFA uses the same requirements as adsl limits. if your line dose not qualify for 6.0 on the regular dsl line chances are it would not qualify on the safa, due to distance limits, co avaibility or such.

If one were to get the standalone FastAccess, would the line incur 911 fees, regulatory recovery fees, etc.; or would it be considered an "unregulated service" and thus not be subject to such fees?

It sounds as though this is basically dry loop DSL service and there is no voice service on the line used for DSL.

the SAFAL is an unregulated service, no 911, RCR, FCC surcharges....

Re: SAFA (Stand Alone FastAccess) - Confirmed today

I was under the impression that BS had to offer Stand alone to the customers in GA and LA. Am I wrong in that?

Re: SAFA (Stand Alone FastAccess) - Confirmed today

Years ago, before the FCC overturned rules state PSC/PUCs passed mandating FastAccess DSL be sold to those with an UNE (CLEC) POTS service, it was possible to get BST DSL & have CLEC POTS service in LA GA and KY. Those customers were grandfathered in.

Forgive the ignorance, but is this available in Illinois (former SBC land)?

This is for AT&T Southeast only. You'd have to check the other forums for rates and promos in your area.

I was able to order the Bundle97 offer. Ordered it Tuesday and it went into effect today. Still have dial tone on the line but am unable to make or receive calls. It took 3 calls and about an hour and a half of talking before I was able to accomplish it. Very nice find! Been waiting a while for dry DSL.

Just from experience... I'd hang up and call Monday when you get someone who actually works weekdays.

I've never been sure about the weekend folks...

Whom ever you spoke with is incorrect. If someone tells you that Wireless is necessary, tell them look up there referance materials using their online tools. I was told the same thing back in June, but when i called this month i was told the bundle was changed August 1st. If anyting you can always ask f or a manager

They called me back after about an hour an apologized. Bundle 97 is offered in my area, no sh!t! I told the manager that called me back that there was NO way the folks on the DSL Reports forum were wrong! LOL
Mine went into effect last night at midnight, I only have xtreme 3.0 now. Now if they'll just offer U-Verse in my area!

safaquestion

@bellsouth.net
so the total cost for safa with dsl ultra is 42.95 right? safa for 15 a month - 10 dsl line discount + 37.95 for the dsl ultra line = 42.95 or it is 37.95 total for everything?

Re: SAFA (Stand Alone FastAccess) - Confirmed today

I was quoted 42.95 plus state tax for xtreme 3.0!

I wish they would have done this 2 months ago. Suddenlink finally pissed my off so I drop them and got 6 meg dsl. I have a bask no frills line. And I pay total with taxes $55 so with this deal it would be $51.90 with just basic Texas Sales tax so I would only be saving $3 a month and I would still need to get a VOIP. So I think I will stay stiff for now. But its nice to know I can get it

I just ordered it from ATT last week and Paid 7.50 plus (19.95/mo for a year) then it jumps to $29.00/mo. It has to be better than COMCAST-Houston. This provider(Comcast))has horriable customer service and refuse to admit they have problems.

Re: SAFA (Stand Alone FastAccess) - Confirmed today

I called them and they have to request it through some internal department and it takes up to 48 hours to process. They are going to call me when the process is complete. So it looks like my area qualifies!! Thanks!!

Ok, i just got off the phone with them, and they said my area didnt qualify, but some other areas in GA do. She said that she wanted to check her own location out when she got off of work.

I'm just north of you in Kennesaw and I was just placed on Bundle 97. I would imagine since we're both in the same county that you should qualify too. Try calling back tomorrow and see if someone else can fix you up with Bundle 97.
