| [Help Me] D-Link DCM-200 modem speed
I've had my DCM-200 for a "few" years. Connected directly between Comcast cable and my PC. Recently the system began communicating slower and slower... Pinging showed multiple packet losses and time outs. Comcast responded, improving some outside connections and a ground issue at the house. The response improved, but the repair reps modem was MUCH faster than mine, and showed no packet loss or time out. My DCM would occasionally time out on a response and definitely was slower. "He said" the modem was basically outdated (firmware/software), and would likely need to be replaced. D-Link's support site has no useful "upgrades", and the Windows XP drivers are all from 2001!!. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a "fix" for it?

join:2004-05-02 Beverly Hills, CA | Well ...looks like the product is on its last legs. Out of warranty. Time to buy another one ...there's a ton of modems out there ...I wouldn't suggest DLINK ...try maybe the Motorola Surfboard ...there are other ones, too. |
