Re: XBOX 360 and FiOs(Actiontec M1424WR)

The official 360 wireless adapter may work with your older installation; it worked with mine. Whether that is because of the Ethernet or an older hardware revision of the router or ONT I don't know. From what I've read you're better off getting the original XBox adapter anyway, as it is cheaper, works just as well and doesn't have this strange Actiontec incompatibility.

Even though I could connect my 360 to my Actiontec router, not everything was copasetic. Browsing and playing many games can fill the NAT table on the M1424 leading to the same problem as using BitTorrent, Steam or newsgroups. In my case, that meant needing a hard reset. Luckily another benefit of having the Ethernet drop is that it's very easy to use your own router instead of the M1424. I couldn't use the bandwidth I was paying for until changing routers.

I just bought the original XBOX wireless adapter, MN-740, and hooked it up to my XBOX last night. It reported an excellent signal at 54MB. I was able to sign into Live and download with no issues. I'm assuming if I plugged the same adapter into a X360 I would have no issues. So it looks like as has been reported that the old XBOX wireless NIC seems to work well with the Actiontec router. Also, I have an older FiOS install with the Cat5 run into the house, which apparently makes a difference.

This is still an issue that is getting worse by the day. Just wait till Halo comes out...then we will see the flaming begin.

I am still having this issue and have heard from an Actiontec representative that they know the issue is out there and are working on it with no ETA.

I agree with FIOSTech. I should not have to go buy a new router or new adapter for this. Make it work or advise people on work arounds. There should be no reason why major companies such as this release products that have these types of issues. If you do release it with an issue, realize it and resolve it.

i totally agree...its so annoying, especially because xbox live is the most appealing component of getting an xbox over a playstation

My sister and her boyfriend live here, and he uses an xbox 360 with the official microsoft xbox 360 wireless adapter. I had to set him up a separate linksys router with wireless, running through my actiontec, to get him online without running wires down to their apartment. Such a joke, I hope verizon gets on top of these kind of problems before I take Cablevision up on their offer to buy out the contract.

Well I got FiOS installed today and they gave me the actiontec router. Its not a big deal for me because I connect my 360 via an ethernet wire so I dont have any problems, however my little brother who has Xbox Live connects wirelessly. I couldnt get him to connect wirelessly.

I ended up having a spare Dlink 802.11g router so I am now using that to help my lil bro connect to xbox live wirelessly. All I did was disable UnPn as well as DHCP, gave it an ip adress in the actiontec routers ip range, disabled the wireless function on my actiontec, and than connected my spare router from its lan port (Not wan port) to one of my actiontecs lan ports, and like magic it worked like a charm. Make sure you have wireless enabled on your spare router and set it up how you like, than use those settings to get the xbox live wireless adaptor to connect to your network.

All in all I am very happy with FiOS even though I had a small problem it was easily fixed.

I am down for whatever seems reasonable. From all I know Verizon is doing nothing. I have not heard from them about it in a while. You would think this would be come a concern for them with the growing of FIOS.

it's funny you post this ... with picture and all ...

this is the EXACT same adapter i have ... the 360 adapter ... i have had my 360 hooked up wirelessly to my actiontec since about 5 minutes after the tech left from the install ... and that was June 8th ... works fine ... and my router is in the room over the garage ... xbox is in the living room downstairs ... opposite sides of the house ...

not real sure what this "known issue" is with THIS particular NIC ... mine works fine.

I have had fios for six months and have never had a problem with the wireless xbox360 connection. I wonder what could be causing this issue with your connection. By the way i am using the actiontech router.

This only effects people who have revision C of this router. You can check the bottom of the router I think and you will see which revision you have.
