| Packet 8 # porting problems?
Has anyone here had problems porting there Sunrocket # to packet 8?
I have one phone # I started the port last month on 7/16/07 before the public notice of Sunrocket closing to Packet8 and another # to T-mobile.
T-mobile was very informative. When I requested the port they gave me information (like that I was on level 3 and the estimated time from level 3) and even called me back once with an update. The port took just 5 days.
What is totally frustrating is the total lack of ANY information from Packet8. The web site says the same thing it did almost a month ago, "There are no Notes for this Case." There was no "We are sorry but there has been a delay in the LNP please be patient." or any information at all. So I called Packet8 and asked if there was any ETA, answer "NO". Asked if they knew if my carrier was Level3 like my # ported to T-mobil? Answer, "We are not allowed to give out that information." Last question, Is there a problem with my transfer or is it just being slow? Answer, "I don't know..."
This totally stinks! Now I understand it will be slow to port with the huge rush. It just would be nice if they would even give me ANY info at all. Ie is the transfer doomed or just delayed?
Has anyone transfered their # to Packet8 since or after requesting on 7/16? |

1 edit | reply to whiteshp I signed up for service on Friday July 20th. I received my Adapter on 7/25. When I plugged it up my number was already ported over. During this time, my port status was port error and pending. Once I activated the adapter it updated to say port enabled.
FYI...my number was a Global Crossing number. Hope this info helps. |

@bcconverting.com | reply to whiteshp I ported over to P8 and had my # functioning 1 week later. I couldn't have been more pleased by their service. This was the week after the Sunrocket shutdown though. Maybe those who waited are having issues. |

| reply to whiteshp I signed up with Packet8 on Jul. 30th, activated the porting of my business number. Still no incoming calls and no word on when it will port (Aug. 8th). Strangely enough I managed (after several attempts) to login on Sunrockets web site. I found voice mail from today (Aug. 8th), and set up call forwarding to my current (hopefully temp) number assigned to me by Packet8. I'm wondering if this was a good idea, and if the voicemail being active will interfere with my porting process. I also had "distinctive ring" set on the number and I can't change the setting. I've read that having distinctive ring will slow the porting process. After 24 years in business I'm ready to shut the doors. I WILL make sunrocket pay dearly for this. |

| reply to whiteshp I switched to packet8 from sunrocket 3 weeks ago, and while the service works with the new number, there has been no progress what-so-ever on my number porting. The packet9 web site has no update on my LNP case and no one at packet8 will talk to me about it... they all play stupid and eventually hang up. |

| There will be no activity on the web site until the number actually ports. They don't know when your number will port because they see the same information you do. There are multiple parties involved here and it's not always the port initiator who is the hold up. |

| reply to whiteshp file complaint with bbb and FTC
I was a sunrocket customer, I signed up with Packet8 since the sleezy sales rep said porting will take 2-3 days because they are also on teh level3 network and because they are preferred partner of sunrocket.
Its been over a month since I have signed up with packet 8. I called 3-4 times, the manager was never available and on top of that the managers never called back.
I have filed complaint with the BBB and am writing to FTC, since the sales rep lied, and they have tied up my number.

File a complaint so that they know its not ok to lie to potential customers. |

4 edits | It turns out that SR sub-contracted a number of clients to outside companies so their information and of course PORTED NUMBERS are still elsewhere. » Re: [TB] Teleblend...?? Maybe Packet8 can't port your number because SunRocket doesn't even have it to give to them.
A lot of people were screwed over by SunRocket. Now other providers are having to try to clean up the mess.

Packet8 are LIARS, they told me my number would port by Aug. 1st, then the date was Aug.10th, now it's Aug. 20th, no port, this is killing me, they lie and make excuses. I'm still waiting to port then I will transfer to another VOIP. PACKET 8 LIES!! Stay away from Packet 8 !!! |

| reply to whiteshp I just signed up with packet8 and am starting a port. We'll see what happens - AT&T POTS couldn't do it, Charter couldn't do it, and now p8 is going to try.... I don't think it is the providers' faults that SR is so screwed... it's our own fault for trusting a VoIP with a number we cared about. |

| reply to whiteshp It took from July 21st to August 17th to port my number. All along the way, Packet8 provided no updates, never replied to web created Case's, never had an agent for Live Chat, and after 45+ minute hold times for a CS, never gave me any useful information. I don't know or care why it took so long, but I do know terrible customer service.
Good luck to you all. I filed online complaints with the FCC, BBB and CPUC a few days before my port completed. Probably that was just coincidence, but I certainly had justification to file the complaints. Now I can choose another provider and start a new port! |

I signed up for service the day after you did. P8 just told me on Friday 8/17 that my port was in process and it would be another 2-3 weeks.
I am not impressed with their communication, but given how every company got slammed with sudden business, I am trying to be patient, otherwise, I'll be a patient.
Be Well. |

| reply to kallsop said by kallsop : Now I can choose another provider and start a new port! That doesn't make any sense... It took too long for your number to port but it finally did. Now you want to port your number AGAIN because it took so long? -- "The penalty good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men." - Plato - |

| Forget it Sly. You're wasting your breath. People who saw the $h*t ready to hit the fan with SunRocket ported out as soon as they could and got it done fast. Others had decided to wait it out. The Taliban got involved along with a whole lot of clecs and tens of thousands of refugees and things have come to a crawl.
It doesn't matter to many of these folks what packet8 was told by the clecs. It doesn't matter to them that the exodus of 200,000 customers isn't Packet8's or any of the other provider's fault. It doesn't matter to them that the other voip providers are experiencing the same problem with porting. Hell, it doesn't even matter to them when they hear another customer mention how even ATT Pots or Charter cable couldn't even port their number.
See, Sly, it just doesn't matter to many people. They will blame Packet8, viatalk customers will blame viatalk, Nuvio customers will blame nuvio, and so on. They are pissed and talking out of emotion. Porting their number isn't the end of the world; TRULY, IT'S NOT!. But they don't care. As long as they can blame someone; right or wrong; they will feel justified. After all; they are the customer and the customer is always right. Later... Mike.... |

| reply to whiteshp Excuse me christ or mike. This is not about customers wanting to screem and yell you're way off.
Its about an unethical practice of misinformation. I sigened up right after sunrocket announced went out of business. The sales rep had no right to lie to me when it would be ported in 2-3 days. I shifted once from SBC to SunRocket 2yrs ago, it took 10 days. However, the sales rep said that since we're on the level 3 network and preferred partner choice of SR it will be quick.
1) They lied to get me as a customer 2) I have received no update, and i can not speak to a manger. They say a manager will call me but yet I've never received a call back.
This is wrong and I will waste twice as much time and money but I will not tolerate this type of practice. |
