1 edit | TB with # at US LEC (PAETEC) CLEC -do incoming calls work?
Thought I'd start my own CLEC-related TB thread as my TB ticket has nothing to do with the TB's recent "outage". Congrats to those of you on other CLECs (Level 3, etc) who have kept their number and incoming service. Feel free to ignore this thread.
For those that know they're with US LEC (now bought out by PAETEC), can you get incoming calls? I cannot
What is the area code and first 3 digits of your number? I'm (919) 460-xxxx
If not, what do you hear when dialing your number from another phone? PAETEC's switch plays this: "phone number deactivated" no fast busy, no ringing of phone.
Did you get the VoiceMail from PAETEC prior to last Sunday letting you know your service would be disconnected on Sunday 8/5 (as well as an ad for their own voip provider who has gotten horrible reviews on voip-related boards)? I did. Even prewarned TB about this on Saturday, was told I'd be OK as a paying customer - apparently not.
Do you have a ticket open with TB and what is your "expected up time"? YES, and mine is today, but I'm not holding my breath.
What has TB told you technically about what they are doing to "fix the problem"? I was told they were negotiating to get those numbers and reviewing records with PAETEC on their subscribers. Perhaps a port of my number to another CLEC is in my future. Don't really care, just want my number back.
What else can be done other than just finding another voip provider or calling PAETEC? I suppose their issue is with no agreements with TB, so not sure what calling them will do since the agreement is between TB and PAETEC, not the end-user. Ideas are welcome. Just need my phone to work. Thought staying with what used to work with SR would be the best way to keep my number. Apparently not. |

1 edit | I am in the same boat as you. Callers hear "phone number deactivated", no fast busy or anything. I also got the "spamming" phone call about service disconnecting unless we use their voip.
I am afraid that PAETEC will ask us to sign up with their VOIP service to get our numbers back.
A nice and easy way for PAETEC to get my "212" number. I am so sick of this, I may as well just go back to POTS |

| said by fluid :I am afraid that PAETEC will ask us to sign up with their VOIP service to get our numbers back. That's not the only option. There are other VOIP providers out there that DO have agreements with US LEC/PAETEC. Vonage is but one I'm aware of, for example. One would think that could be a quick signup with a fast reestablish of your number if they already heavily use US LEC/PAETEC. I think it's the lack of an agreement between US LEC/PAETEC and Teleblend that is causing this issue currently.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but Teleblend doesn't have long (hours?) to work this out before I decide they're incapable of either porting immediately to another CLEC or getting an agreement with US LEC/PAETEC.
Thx for the reply and info. FWIW, I have read on this site that TB did get at least one subscriber in the same PAETEC boat their incoming calls to work. So, it appears to be possible, just not sure what they're doing or how long it will take. |

1 edit | I just came across this list on the web. I apologize if it is already posted somewhere in the forums. It is the list of the Local Exchange Company Contact Telephone Numbers.
Note: After posting the list, I realized that most of the numbers are for Virginia. Not sure if the numbers are for nationwide LNP issues. |

| reply to Caryite Dang you're STILL not getting incoming? That sucks man. I wonder if anyone else near you ISN'T getting incoming. It's been okay for me again today, though caller ID is screwed. Maybe they dropped the ball with just your number?
I'll stay with TB til my N2P adapter shows. Then I'm done and won't look back. |

| said by JollieC :Same issue here... Still. I figured as much that I wasn't the only one. What are you doing about it with TB and what have they been telling you?
I'm not surprised others are in this same situation given PEATEC went to the bother to spam our phones last week with the generic Sunrocket warning, but I'm more interested either in what TB is telling you is being done technically to resolve it or what other options (like perhaps a new voip provider) to get your number back. |

| I was able to contact Paetec through AT&T Wireless (since Packet8 refused to put me in touch with them).
Well, we (AT&T rep and I) left a message for them last night, and they (Paetec) actually called me this morning at 7:55 AM.
First, I expressed my concerns about the possibly of losing my number. The lady I spoke to assured me that the number will not be lost. The reason that the LNP changes are taking too long with PAETEC is due to Sunrocket's way of "dropping dead" and now they are getting thousands of LNP requests from former SR users.
Also, their merger with US LEC made things a bit more complicated as well as different numbers are handled by different parts of the company.
Then, she looked up my number and told me that my number is handled by "US LEC". She called US LEC's POC and left a message with my info. Let's see if this will somehow expedite my request.
I think dealing with the big boys (AT&T Wireless) is a better choice right now since you get more detailed attention. VOIP companies (Packet8, Vonage, Teleblend) are simply swamped. |

| That's good news that they were able to give you the personal hands on help. In the porting process, the losing clec is not normally required to expend this much expense. Can't imagine what some of these clecs are thinking about DIDs that they made only pennies per month from SR??? |

1 edit | reply to Caryite Problem was fixed today, sometime around 2pm ET as best we can tell, no earlier than 11am when I last tried and got the usual deactivated message.
Out of my own curiosity, I called TB to see what was done to fix this. According to the Sprint Nextel online signup sight, my CLEC has not changed - still with US LEC there.
TB had no notes in my case on what was done to finally "fix my problem", so there's nothing I can actually say on how my incoming calls started to work other than some obvious work with US LEC perhaps? The rep said they had a "network wide outage" yesterday, and I could only laugh at that point given my ticket has been open since 8/5.
So, I'm obviously happy my home number is back, but I'd say for now they really do a poor job of providing a reason for how problems get fixed (TB- ever heard of "lessons learned" or RCA?).
Still leery if this is for the long-term, but I've bought time and kept my number. Not sure if it was dumb luck or something more that went on, but I'll be out of the doghouse tonight. I can at least be thankful for that. |

| reply to fluid Do you have the phone number that you used at PAETEC? I sent an e-mail to the CEO of Packet8 today, complaining about the fact that my # hasn't ported after 1 month - and he basically told me that non Level3 or Global Crossing #'s will take 4 - 6 weeks to port.
I am wondering if I could contact PAETEC (who owns my #) to see if I can hurry things along? I just don't want to lose the # |

I got the same response from PAYTEC as well. They will not expedite the request. I had AT&T call them as well - no luck. At least they gave me a date when I should expect the number to be ported (28 Aug) - over a month and a half since the original request... |
