Re: Sunrocket stealing numbers back??

I would be happy to sign up - just having found the Register button yet.

I have never signed up with Teleblend so they have no reason to be keeping my number. I did on one of the first days start to fill out their registration form (which I believed included my Sunrocket phone number) but never completed the transaction.

The odd thing is they are releasing the numbers via the official port process (Packet8 confirmed that), they are just not taking the numbers out of their system.

Right now if you call my ported number from a Packet8 phone, it works just fine. If you call it from the outside world the call is unable to route correctly as it is registered on two different systems.

Doesn't Packet8 (or the clec) have to approve the ports going out. Sounds like someone at P8 (or the clec) may have also dropped the ball.

Could Teleblend be doing bulk ports of all SR numbers not paying attention to who signed up with them or not.

I can see how they can prevent a # from being ported properly, but to reverse a port seems highly unusual if even possible.
it's not a reverse port, it's just TB porting from P8, or whomever else. however, since it's done w/o your permission, it's illegal. if this is happening, that is...
In the old days, this was called 'slamming' and is most assuredly illegal, if true..
yeah, i've posted about that here before.

chalk up one more FCC violation to credit to TB.

Now, to clear things up, are the only people who are experiencing this signed up w/ TB (to save number, etc)? Or are non-TB subscribers who went to another provider (not necessarily packet8) also seeing this?

IIRC, the port is a "pull". The losing company doesn't have to do anything (that's why people can still port from SR, even though there's nobody at SR to do anything)

I never signed up with TB, if that helps.

I ported to VoicePulse. On Tuesday, the numbers were yanked back. Calls showed up in the SR Member portal.

VoicePulse yanked em back harder. Got a call around 5pm that all was well.

It just goes to show you that TB TOS is true and they will make it very hard for you (at their sole discretion) to port out once they get their act together. Of course this happened without their act being together.

if you guys can get documentation from your new provider that this occured, I suggest you do so ASAP and promptly file a slamming complaint w/ the FCC and your state AG. They don't take this sort of thing lightly.

i think you will only have a valid complaint for numbers you ported into SunRocket, i know a few 1000(at least) that were assigned were never paid for right so i really doubt those can be transfered out.

I have already done so (at the direction of Packet8). Any one else in this situation can do the same at: »www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html

I would agree. I have had my same phone number for 11+ years now - and indeed ported to Sunrocket 2 years ago.

My number FINALLY ported to Packet8!

I initiated my port request on 7/23 and it just ported over. I called in to escalate my port and a few minutes later it was completely ported. I don't think it was a coincidence because my incoming died a day before the port. Well I'm in a good mood now!

let's hope Packet8 can hang onto it.

I just sent Ms Bickford the following email regarding this. We'll see what her reply (if any) is.

Ms Bickford-
It's been a long week at TB, hasn't it? First a network outage which you falsely attributed to Global Crossing (»Re: TeleBlend Official Statement on Service Disruption as well as on your network status page, prior to removing their name, but it was nice of you to issue a retraction, even if it came from SpeakerBox Communications (»biz.yahoo.com/bw/070808/20070808···tml?.v=1) … I've yet to see how they're all related to this mess), and now this:

Users are complaining that TeleBlend is stealing their numbers back *after* they've been ported. This has been experienced by users on Packet8 and VoicePulse, most of which have not signed up with TeleBlend for service. According to one user, there are "hundreds" of complaints like this at Packet8 right now. Read all about it here: »Sunrocket stealing numbers back??

I hate to be the one to educate you on the telecommunication laws of the US, but this is what we peons like to call "slamming". The FCC likes to call it that, too, and they like it even less than us little people do.

Can you explain this? I don't think the "problems with the network/equipment/people/the machines are doing it by themselves" excuse is going to satisfy many people, given how you handled the events earlier in the week.

reply received:

I’m looking for an answer from our network engineers now. We have not initiated any transfers that I’m aware of, but many problems have occurred behind the scenes with our vendors and due to the fact that some people originally signed up with us and then ported after a few days due to problems.

More info as soon as I have it available.
