| I'll still be haunting these forums, the PUC gives Verizon 10 business days(Essentially 2 weeks unless they drag their feet) to re-provision the copper line and port my number over.
I am sure Verizon does not want it to get out that you can opt for a CLEC to get your fiber and DSL back if FiOS proves to be undesirable.
I expect headaches with any provider you switch to, an example is an article on the BBR main page expertly written by KARL, detailing Verizon's mess of billing problems they are harassing customers with.
The number port, and DSL live date puts me within a week of the new IMG going live in Philly, so I am tempted to wait and seem what that does, before asking for my shipping labels to return the boxes and DVR's.
If I dump the Fios TV, they better send me a return label for the ONT too, or the Tellabs 612 'wall wart' goes in the trash.
Of course I would properly recycle the Lead-Acid battery, you can't just throw lead in the trash these days.
They are only charging me $14.95mo for the 5Mbps DSL for 6 months, then the 7th month is completely FREE. I have a few weeks to see if I completely dump Fios Internet, but my first impression at this time is to do exactly that.
Mind that the next day, Philly will finally get the 20/5 Internet upgrade. -- We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat !! | | JPLPremium join:2007-04-04 Downingtown, PA kudos:1 | K, sorry to see you go (I'll still keep an eye out for you around town). I thought for sure you would hang on until the new guide came around. But I can understand - losing dial tone repeatedly would send me over the edge too. As for which service to go with, I don't know - I've always been partial to DirecTV. Yeah Dish is adding new HD channels real soon... but DirecTV is adding a WHOLE bunch this fall. May be worth looking into.
Good luck to you. | | KA3SGM- -... ...- -Premium join:2006-01-17 West Chester, PA Reviews:

| JPL, the Telephone Line has already been marked for porting, Fios Internet has both feet on a banana peel, but I think I will be waiting to see the IMG 2.0 to see if it makes any difference.
I spent over an hour on the phone with Verizon today, asking for the simple favor of letting me have my copper phone line back.
Verizon put me through a nice Phone, TV, and Internet outage for more than 4 hours the other night. They blamed the trouble on a power outage at my home, although the power was on.
Fortunately, it was after 9PM so I wasn't burning peak airtime on my ironically enough 'Verizon Wireless' cell phone.
In so many words, I was told fiber is now, copper is history, and there would be no going back.
CLEC's don't have access to Verizon's fiber network, so copper is their past, present, and future.
At least for my telephone service, and likely the data service, copper is once again the foreseeable future.
The TV situation is still to be determined, but that's a story for the Fios TV thread. -- We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat !! | |
