Has SunRocket or its agents responded to any of the chargeback requests? Any issue of note? How about a credit card provider that was a problem? |

| Is it provisional credit (temporary) or permanent real credit? My CC company told me flat out that I wouldn't get anything if they don't recover anything from the merchant's bank. Furthermore, they said any provisional credit issued (I was asking them because people on this forum said they got $$ back) will be withdrawn if the CC company doesn't recover their money. |

| reply to cbrain I was charged by SunRocket for annual service AFTER I told them that I did not intend to renew... they just went ahead and charge me anyhow.
But, it was charged to my Visa card. My Visa card boasts that you should use their card for all purchases because they give you buyer protection... Well, I guess I will see how that works out. I expect that they will disappoint me. |

That's not how the system works ... the SR Merchants bank is on the hook for all the charge-backs, they have no means to refuse other banks doing the charge backs without SR to provide support documentation. SR banks get screwed, but that is the risk THEY took accepting all those fees when the money was rolling in.
Sounds like your bank is just giving you the run-a-round |

| That was the explaination I got despite calling several times and speaking with several supervisors. I am not doubting what you said. But if what you are saying is true, then there is no incentive for my CC company to tell me what they told me. It's not legal for them to get a chargeback from the merchant's bank but keep it for themselves, is it?
I don't know how the system works actually, but I can guarantee that when big money is on the table, the guy holding the purse isn't so eager to let it go. Let's hypothetically say that just 25% of SR customers demand their money back, that's 50K*$200 = $10 Million dollars. Not a small number, and if I was the merchant's bank, you betcha I would fight tooth and nail not to pay it.
Anyhow, I hope that I get something back from the bank, but I won't be holding my breath. Good luck to everyone. |

1 edit | reply to cbrain I am with Citi MC. I called and disputed on ~7/20. Dispute was for 10/12th of my $199 contract since I did get 2 months of "working service". ~$170 temporary credit was given the next day on my billing statement.
Citi told me that they needed the details in writing and would send out an info packet that I had to provide documentation, sign and return. I haven't seen this info yet from Citi. I called this morning to ask about this packet and their billing dispute dept. is closed on weekends...
The saga will continue on Monday.... |

I got the same line from Citi over a month ago (I wanted to cancel at the end of my $99 1YR but SR charged my card anyway). Citi hasn't contacted me about it and I still have the credit on my account. Let me know if you find anything out regarding the paperwork - I assumed it was just taken care of by Citi if SR didn't dispute it. |

1 edit | reply to cbrain I initiated chargebacks with American Express (Platinum Business), Citi MasterCard Business, Chase MasterCard Business in mid-July for four separate accounts --- SR Annual Plan renewal charges. Interestingly, I was not aware that SR had additionally billed the AmExp CC for a fourth account which I had actually cancelled a week earlier. The AmExp rep pointed this bogus charge out to me --- and she initiated two chargebacks on my AmExp CC.
None of these CC companies asked for written documentation because they were all aware of the SR demise.
My August statements for each CC company specifically show the "disputed" charges and they are not included in my balance due --- but neither have these disputed charges been permanently removed.
As I understand it, the credit card issuer must contact the charging company (in this case SR) and give them a chance to respond to the customer's dispute. Since SR's contact number for the CC companies rings endlessly without anyone at SR home to answer, the chargeback will by default be successful. This is similar to winning a case in small claims court because the "sued" party does not show up for the hearing. -=-=-=- EDIT: I just got off the phone with Chase Business MasterCard. They confirm that the SR chargeback is official and permanent. |

| reply to cbrain I don't know about SunRocket's response but I got the money from Chase (business CC) within 2 days. And the credit is permanent.
I didn't even have to call them, I just sent them an on-line message through my account. I had used only 2.5 months of SR service and the CC charge was that much old.
Hope this encourages others to get their money back.... |
