| Speed much improved!
I have been using Compton for a few months now and I have experienced ongoing problems with the speed. While I can get 10,000 kbs to the powergate.ca server, I could not get more than 2,000kbs to everywhere else on the internet. In an effort to get better speed I added second internet connection to my house using Bell DSL but I found that the speed was the same at about 2,000 kbs. A tracert on the Compton connection and found that they where using Teleglobe (Bell) for their internet connection. I spoke to a friend of mine who runs a server farm at an MCI data centre in Toronto and he said that Bell does not 'peer' with other internet providers (to save a few bucks). Today I tested my Compton connection again and got this:
For a Saturday afternoon, 3,359kbs is a big improvement! I did a tracert and found that instead of Teleglobe, Rogers was showing up. It would appear that Compton has changed their connection and is now using a Rogers pipe. Thanks very much Compton. Your efforts to keep the speed up is much appreciated! |

Hmm... maybe I spoke too soon. I just ran a test tonight (Sunday) at 9:46pm that wasn't so fast:
We will just have to wait and see... |
