Can't connect to modem to run DMT (on a 4200)

I want to get the line stats using DMT. I try and connect to the modem using 192.168.2.1 and unable to. I am currently connected to the internet and I'm connected directly to the modem (took the router out of the picture). Why can't I connect to my modem? I have set up port forwarding and I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Secondly is there a how to for DMT, I looked and can't find anything.

Thirdly, great site! Bear with me as I'm a newbie to DSL but with a little reading and a little help I hope to get relatively proficient.

Cheers!

Did you input the correct login/password as well?

What version of DMT are you using? You'll need the one listed at the bottom of the page - v.9.01:

I have 9.01 and re downloaded just in case...same results.

The error I get is:

Connection establishment failed. Modem not found. IP/DNS unreachable.

Are you running a software firewall that's blocking the Telnet connection?

DMT connects on port 23 to the ip address specified. Perhaps the Bell firmware on the 4200 doesn't allow Telnet operations...(I haven't tried - I'm using DMT with a 5200)

It won't work with the Bell firmware. I have a 4200 running non-Bell firmware at one office, and it works with DMT just fine.

HiVolt...
The GUI looks great on the DMT tool. Do you or anyone else for that matter, have any idea if, or when one like it might be available for the 6520? It would be nice to have such a good reporting tool other than just Speed Stream Stat.

You can try to submit your requirements to BoxFan, the author of 'DMT'.

Thanks for the help boyz.

I am running the bell firmware and that explains that, but does this firmware stop me from viewing my modem sign in page (i.e. 192.168.2.1 gets me a "problem loading page"). Do I need to have the activation CD in or something?

thanks for the help.
