"Hence, without those unions, you could give the guarantee of a decent wage goodbye since most jobs have the upper hand."

Enter the illegal mexican work force. That's what's driving cost and wages up these days, lol, welcome to the 21st century, Hoffa is dead.

You have to try at least, which obviously you don't have the ambition to do. Secondly, I was able to secure a Pell Grant all four years of my schooling even though my parents claimed me on there taxes and made decent salaries, they just wouldn't pay for college. What jc100 is oblivious to is that there are different kinds of grants, ones that are close to impossible to obtain and ones that are given to the ones that need them. in this guys case, making only $250/week or whatever it was would not have a problem at all getting some of these grants. like I said, which lazy people such as yourself cannot seem to grasp onto, is that it takes some work and ambition but it IS doable if the person actually wants it and doesn't want to ride on the coat tails of the tax payers.

Keiser is oblivious to the fact that grants are not handed out like water. Grants are competitive since they do not have to be paid back. In the real world, not keiser's fantasy one, many people compete for that one source of money. Your odds of getting even a little chunk of it are pretty slim. Hence, most people are left to borrow and be in debt. Your average college grad probably leaves with 60-100,000 for four years of study. That's a nice long while of paying + interest to 0 it out. Hell, they wanted 7.5 percent on my student loan of 11-12,000. That would have turned it in to 20 grand if I followed their scale. Imagine what those above figures would be? Hence, keseir, unions are needed to ensure your hard work DOES PAY OFF. How would you like to study for 4-6 years, and be offered jobs that paid like crap? You might respond, well then you look for others. Easier said than done of course, with a lackluster job market and the promise that most jobs in a profession pay pretty standard. Hence, without those unions, you could give the guarantee of a decent wage goodbye since most jobs have the upper hand. Work for us and take what you get, or find something better. We'll fill this slot either way. That is the mentality of the world today, and unions (while imperfect) at least tone down this mentality.

i make maybe 1000 a month (FUCK YOU crappy job)
my rent is 400 a month + power water and food"

LOL, You don't seem to realize that at your income level you would be able to get about every grant there is (which would cover room/board/books). You don't have to pay grants back. Then you'd only need a small portion of the actual repayable student loan to suppliment. A student loan is what I was talking about. take some initiative if life is such crap for you, hell, with the experience and knowledge you claim to have in IT, I could get you a job at my company making 80k+/year, no papers needed.

So what do you do for a living Chain? Sit here and bitch about how everyone is lazy? Maybe get a real job and do the math how even a college educated salary doesn't equal for squat. The middle class is being squeezed. You say that the union protects lazy people. Where's your proof? You make an allegation now show us hard numbers to prove this speaks for the majority? On the other hand, you seem full of baseless claims. We're all waiting for you to substantiate this allegation. As for reality, unions protect a workers who are mistreated often by employers. If your company breaks your contract and decides to screw you, you have little recourse without filing an expensive lawsuit. Yet, with a union present, you can file a grievance and make something happen. Sadly, people like yourself lack a brain and only understand what Fox News tells you. I got a real fact, America is dumbing down to the level of Stupid and I see many people on here cutting to be first in line.

Wow, where to start commenting on your baseless rant(?!)

First, if you do the math, simply having Toyota as a large employer in that part of TX adds a lot to the economy, unionized or otherwise. You may not want to accept that fact, but it's true. The situation is by no means as black and white as you've unfortunately portrayed it. For example, even non-unionized suppliers/contractors can create a heck of a lot of local jobs which otherwise would not exist, stimulating further demand for more positions. Yes, a great deal of these jobs will not feed a family of four, but that's not the point.

I suggest you also consult with both an economist and a real estate professional regarding your ridiculous assertion that Toyota in some way would be solely responsible for current soft housing market.

elios, keisur is a simpleton that probably hasn't work for a thing in his life. People like him have been handed everything and have never experienced true hardship. You owe that piece of shit nothing, let alone an explanation. One can only hope that he suffers some extreme calamity that puts him into a position that requires he live the life that he criticizes.
BTW, gotta love his racist attempt at "ghetto" talk as well.... "peeps"... what are you implying by this comment Keisur? I believe the image of you sitting in front of your computer with your white hood on isn't a stretch.

"min wage in some states is a joke look at CA the cost of living is so high if you dont make atlest 40k a year your going to be living in a slum"

All the more reason for the lower class scum to aspire to do something with their lives instead of feasting off of the taxes paid by the people who actually cared enough to PAY FOR THEIR OWN SCHOOLING and get a degree to better themselves. It is far too easy for these people to get student loans for schooling, full student loans. There is no excuse. I've had people tell me, "I didint getted duh oppuhtoonitee you gots!" That is complete Horse Dung as I've stated it's alot easier for one of them to get a loan than me! I worked through school to pay for it and it was tough. I didn't give up and blame "the man" for not giving me free breakfast after the free bus ride to school which is provided free through highschool. It all goes back to the individuals wanting to better their peeps, which in my experience (take the scum from N.O. after Katrina for instance) they don't give a crap about. They just want to suckle off the teet of the american tax payer and get a free ride. I was a Teamster throughout college (because that was the only way to work in the moving business) but I hated every minuted of it. It HAD it's place in the making of the equal opportunity laws that are in place now, they aren't worth a crap to society anymore. The people who support unions are the same scum that suckle the teet.

I have no idea where you people think that "Toyota" pays good, trust me TMMTX pay SUCKS, I speak from experience. benefits are marginal, work ethics are EXTREMELY SICK (ex. 3 days out no matter the reason, YOUR GONE). How about bad weather/tornado? EVERYONE is stuffed into a so called tornado shelter (RESTROOM) which is roughly a 25x25 space x 50 - 100 people. want to call a loved one in an extreme emergency? your out of luck no phones/cells are allowed on Toyota site if caught its termination and banned forever at Toyota. Laws you say?
you sign a contract stating they are in right to terminate with or without cause/reason end of story. if you don't sign this don't think you will be working for this company or any on-site supplier for that matter.

Housing market pre Toyota in south side satx about 75k today's market for house on south side no less then 140k
Toyota pay DOES NOT support this trust me. all suppliers pay about same base line as Toyota assembly etc.

yet a truck sells for on avg. $30k x 150k trucks per year = $4.5 billion a year, way to go Toyota this is just the Tundra line

of course Toyota itself makes about $2k in profit per truck after all is said and done that still = huge profits.

TMMTX and all suppliers are non union so does it need a union? i say it needs something/control.

You sir are a complete idiot.
1. The Minimum Wage has not kept up with inflation. So that "minimum wage" is not really a "livable" wage, for which it was intended. Even the higher paying fast food jobs don't offer livable wages.

2. Ever hear of "At-will" dumbass? Basically, you can be fired for any reason (other than illegal discrimination.)

3. 40 hours a week is not a standard anymore. Most people work much longer. If you work as a salaried employee, odds that you are working more is even greater. This doesn't even consider companies like WalMart and others that force employees to badge out and continue working on their own time.

In a country that is seeing the middle class squeezed out of existence, where the rich continue to get richer and the poor are getting poorer, we need good, strong unions that are realistic and are more in tune to today's requirements. Unions need to be fixed, but not destroyed.

Yeah, because Toyota was smart enough to pay a reasonable rate to skirt a union in the first place.
While unions, like the rest of America, has gotten fat and lazy, they are still very much needed.

Where do you think those "modern" laws came from? Those laws are there because of the Unions. If the Unions were gone, those laws would soon be gone also. The government and corporations don't give a shit about the working class, you're just a number. Unions are the only way for the little guy to demand a living wage, benefits and safe working conditions.

I agree .. unions may have had their place back when labor laws didn't exist.
Now, with few exceptions, they hold back progress, and assist in offshoring jobs.

I'll give a hint... Toyota vs. the big 3. Guess who won.
I've been inside some of those plants, and many are job protecting slugs and union/management relationships are poor at best.
I've seen workers sleeping on the job (sleeping there, as they have a 'real job' when they get done their shift), some sabotaging production, others outright stealing things from engines/compents/electronics to janitor supplies. The union protects them, and they never get fired. The typical age of these employees are +50.

I've worked on both Union and Non-Union jobs (for the same company even), and I think Union jobs typically hurt the overall economy/industry these days.
