Edward Mueller will be Qwest's new CEO, and will start with a salary of $1.2 million and a minimum bonus of $947,000 (plus stock-based incentives). $947,000 minimum bonus ? Sorry, but I thought bonuses were always granted based on performance or profitability. According to the news, the guy gets a guaranteed bonus with this minimum bonus crap ? Man, I'd like to have a minimum bonus for doing jack squat like these executive guys. $deity knows I've got more marketable skills than most of them (considering theirs usually are the ability to play golf and to sit pretty for investor press conferences).
Anyway, the only upside is that this guy HAS TO BE better than Nacchio was. -- Prove it... Save the Internet Time (NTP) service, use the pool. |

 | Nacchio has been out for a while, so that's pretty much a guarantee. |

For example, he may have a target bonus of 100%, but a minimum bonus of 75% and an incentive bonus of %125
Now, defining the trigger level for bonuses for the guy is a different question for a different day. |

It sounded like he was getting a bonus of $900+k regardless of performance from the wording in the article.
