Compilation of Malware/AV Repair Tools for USB Flash Drive

For a while now, I've maintained a set of tools that I use on a USB flash drive for repairing/cleaning/doing work on computers.

I've seen a few different takes on packages for the same purpose, but I think I've been pretty comprehensive with what I've chosen. I've just finished updating, cleaning, and tidying it all up, so everything should be the latest version.

This thread: »Portable anti-virus kit led me to believe that at least some of you might need or like to try out something quick and already packaged for that purpose. To that end, I've uploaded my take on it.

These tools shouldn't be the end-all for everything, let me know if there's stuff you think I've missed that is absolutely critical for a package like this. I want to keep it somewhat small (already you'll need at least a 256 MB flash drive), but sometimes more is better.

I've done my best to remove stuff that would get me in trouble with licensing (such as Windows Defender). I'm reasonably sure what's left shouldn't pose a problem for redistribution. All the standalone tools should also run from a CD or read-only USB drive, but I've never done so.

 Nice job. I downloaded and extracted to a CD.

I often get pressed in to troubleshooting other's PC problems and had my own little troubleshooting toolkit. But yours had all of mine and about 80% more as well.

Can the AVs and spybot be ran and updated to latest defs without installing?

Yes, that's correct. The ones that are really designed for portable use (things like McAfee stinger, Avast! cleaner, e.t.c.) should even work on read-only volumes (eg a write-protected jumpdrive or CD-ROM).

Things like the KAV trial, Avast! 4 Home, or Adaware must be installed. I generally end up doing this on computers that have absolutely no protection, and tell the client to make certain that they register, or malware will probably re-infest their computer. Previously Adware SE used to run for me, but I couldn't figure this latest one out even after some fiddling. All that's on there of Adaware is the installer executable.

Well, assuming you're on a USB drive that you can write to, yes. Spybot you can run updates on and those should carry with you on the drive.
