Updating Firmware = 1st step to router problem resolution

Just a note to suggest to everyone that if you're running into problems with a router that doesn't seem to be doing what its supposed to...

Your first step should be to see how old the firmware is and check if there are fresh updates available.

I've just resolved issues with both a Linksys and Dlink router after each company suggested a firmware update...after spending hours and hours looking for answers!
