You sir are a complete idiot.
1. The Minimum Wage has not kept up with inflation. So that "minimum wage" is not really a "livable" wage, for which it was intended. Even the higher paying fast food jobs don't offer livable wages.
2. Ever hear of "At-will" dumbass? Basically, you can be fired for any reason (other than illegal discrimination.)
3. 40 hours a week is not a standard anymore. Most people work much longer. If you work as a salaried employee, odds that you are working more is even greater. This doesn't even consider companies like WalMart and others that force employees to badge out and continue working on their own time.
In a country that is seeing the middle class squeezed out of existence, where the rich continue to get richer and the poor are getting poorer, we need good, strong unions that are realistic and are more in tune to today's requirements. Unions need to be fixed, but not destroyed. |
