smoking ?

Maybe the tech was smoking and caught some grass or something on fire.
I know around here there are alot of cable pedestals that are in dried brush/grass, wouldn't take much of a spark to send the whole thing up.

I suppose that this sort of thing might happen if the house electrical service was also buried and the cable install somehow got tied to it (shorted, service cable scraped by the cable install foot, etc. How the fence got into it might be the big question.
