Re: redundant (sorry)

A few questions:

1) What channel is your router using for the Wi-Fi? If it's set to automatic, try selecting a channel manually (1, 6, and 11 generally work best).

2) Any cordless phones around?

3) What firmware do you have on the Actiontec?

4) WEP or WPA?

I am thinking that a cordless phone or something else (my old microwave used to knock out the Wifi with my old router) is causing interference on the channel. You reboot the router and it ends up picking a clearer channel. Then you're fine until there's another instance of interference.

My Actiontec has generally been trouble free. But, the wireless has been flawless since I upgraded the firmware to the latest version and switched to WPA after eliminating all of my hardware that was WEP-only.

So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time...

I'm the only person here who isn't asking about using another router in place of the Actiontec for no good reason.

I've noticed some posts that seem similar, so I'm wondering how many people are limping along with this problem?
1) Just using IE and suddenly the pages do not come up. My 802.11g interface says I am still connected with the expected ip address. I cannot even connect to the router's signin page.
2) I tell the wireless card to disable, then enable. Sometimes it pulls an IP address, sometimes it doesn't. If it did, everything is ok again.
3) If the wireless cannot pull and address, I go to a hardwired computer and signin on the router. then go to advanced page and tell the router to reboot.
4) After the reboot completes, the laptop pulls an address and I'm going again.
My install was April 3. This problem showed up a few weeks after the install. It's a pain, and it happens randomly. Sometimes I go days with no problem, and sometimes it happens 2 or 3 times in a day.
My sons laptop also sees the same thing. When I lose connection, so does he. Only hardwired ethernet computers still work.
