HD Pixellation Back (Again) in Philly

Is anyone else in the Philly area seeing pixellation again on the HD channels (Food, MHD, etc.)

I saw it briefly last night - and am seeing it again tonight.

Jesus-
Here we go again.
I'm opening a ticket with Live Chat right now. Can the two of you possibly do the same?? My ticket is DEDQ724573 if you want to reference it.

Looks like more Philly VHO problems.

"It's a problem with your electrical wiring and/or PECO," remember?

Noticed some tiling and other issues on some SD channels late this afternoon, don't know if anyone else has experienced that...

Sorry NoPing.

Are you guys seeing it anywhere else? I just saw it on HDNet as well.

PS - apparently the Phils are in HD tonight even though they are on the road.

HDNet huh??

Someone needs to get JWhip to call Mark Cuban and tell him that Verizon is making his network look bad.

That's what you get when you don't pay your water bill on time.
I recently had some tiling problems in my shower, a little grout and some silicone caulk fixed it up real quick

Noping, anyway, your talking to JeepMatt, he's in DE.

It's Delmarva Power not PECO.

Sorry, just quoting a BS line Verizon fed me to pass the buck, thought JeepMatt would remember it. Any complaints that I would make by calling in (or using Live Chat, or »/forum/vzdirect) would fall on deaf ears...

Little one just said that she saw something on Nick (222) a few minutes ago - didn't see it for myself. This seems oddly familiar...

I got your joke Noping.

But, anyone reading this seeing this problem, PLEASE report it. I don't want to have this drag on for 4 days like last time just b/c it took that long to have a "group" ticket.

THANKS!

Noping, no problem. lol

Verizon fed me that one last week, my phone, TV, and Internet were all out.
The power light on the BBU was on, all the lights on the ONT were on, my wife had the washer running, and the Central Air was chill'in nicely. My power was on.

The dumba$$ FSC rep cold not be convinced that I was not experiencing a power outage, it had to be a power outage, no way it could be a Verizon problem.

The guy actually tells me that the Diagnostics on the ONT indicate a power outage.

I must commend them for at least trying to blame others, when it's clearly their fault.

If theres an effin Power Outage, how are you reading the ONT diagnostics, I asked????

Oh, well maybe it's a power outage at the CO then. OK, the CO is out, again, HOW ARE YOU READING THE ONT DIAGNOSTICS??? DUH

IF you are familiar with the West Chester CO,

North East of the West Chester U campus, on High Street, across from the Burger King @ Price Street,
you would know that that CO is sitting on enough Battery and Diesel Generators to power all of West Chester.

I doubt they have had a power outage there in decades, the building is built as a Fallout Shelter.

I also opened a thread in the Direct forum here - and Joe (who's sitting in for Gustavo this week) replied that they do see the breakup at the NOC. And they will contact the Philly VHO (if necessary).

So wow - we're verified on the first try!

I have to say, Joe, who like i said is sitting in for Gustavo this week, is one hell of a representative. Quick, precise answers to any of your questions.

VZ - you have two great employees in Joe and Gustavo working here.

I usually only complain about Food HD if Giada is tiling.

I thought CSN was the 'Can't Stand Network'.

Since it's owned by the competition, why would they want to furnish VZ with a watchable picture quality????

What better advertisement than to be the only watchable HD channel on FiOS when all the others are breaking up every 6 minutes?

Re: HD Pixellation Back (Again) in Philly

Well, in true VZ fashion - obviously NOTHING was done overnight to address the tiling and breakup out of Philadelphia - which they did acknowledge seeing last night.

I woke up this morning and within 10 seconds saw tiling and audio loss on Starz HD, and again on Food HD.

This is becoming rediculous. It follows the same pattern - starts briefly Sunday, progressively gets worse Monday / Tuesday - finally by Wednesday enough people finally get sick of it - they'll try and fix it Wed night - only not to...and so on...

3rd time in 4 months Verizon.

Hey kids-
A Group ticket is now established.

Apparently they are "seeing issues with a piece of equipment". Hmmmm..I'm wondering if it's the same one that's failed 3 times now???

More details to come.

Joe (in the Direct forum) actually asked me to pass on that anyone in this area that is seeing these problems to please create a post in the Direct forum. He will create a ticket for you, then attach it to the group ticket.

Thanks!

Jeep, I haven't had a chance to look, but if so this is great news !!!

They'll swap the offending board with the one that does NOT have the Picture Quality problems for the rest of the week, and we can have a nice week of excellent TV to watch for a change.

Re: HD Pixellation Back (Again) in Philly

Phly-
My guess (as has also been suggested to me) is that there is a piece of equipment that keeps failing (and has been since May) that VZ won't replace, because it is too expensive, however they keep trying to band-aid it instead.

Which, lasts for 4 weeks or so, until we all jump through the hoop again.

PS - Thanks for those that just opened threads in the Direct forum.

Knarf- don't be surprised. They won't "fix" anything until the overnight hours. I guess they'd rather have us put up with 72 hours of breakup instead of the brief outage we'd see for the equipment swap.

Well, I'm in the Philly area and have been affected by some of the pixelation problems that have occurred. I just came back from my sister-in-law's place and we were watching some recorded Dirty Jobs from the SD Discovery channel. It had what I would call a fair amount of pixelization and audio drop-outs. I remarked about how awful it was and they said it's always like that and that's what it's like with a digital feed. They didn't see it as a big deal. They've always had Comcast. If it went on for a couple more weeks maybe they would call it in. Those of us here at Fios on Dslreports would have been reporting it immediately. They said it happens all the time on various channels ... no big deal. And I sure wouldn't want to give up the PQ that I get with Fios. My nephew said that our SD looked like their HD and that our HD was incredible. (And I didn't even prompt him. )

Also, Comcast in this area at least (Philly suburbs) is missing quite a few HD channels – FoodTV, HGTV, HDnet, NFLNet is extra cost, etc. So not to push one over the other but there are trade-offs all around.

Some folks may call me a cheerleader (or worse) but my experience with VZ has been very good. Some problems but they are addressed. Is everything perfect ... no... but it's still better than anything else out there in this area in my opinion.

Cee-
From the bit i've watched since getting home tonight - it really seems to affect the HD channels.

I'm seeing major tiling and blocking on Showtime HD, Starz HD, Food HD...seems like this time it's only knocking our higher-def offerings.

Well, edit my last post - i'm also seeing breakup on HBO Zone as well...lol.

Damn! In typical fashion - the tiling is getting worse by the day. I can hardly watch 1 minute of a show without it breaking up.

Re: HD Pixellation Back (Again) in Philly

I haven't watched anything since this morning. But I'm doing a lot of DVRing. I'm just hoping that those channels will be watchable. Maybe I'll try to watch the Phillies game later tonight.

Sure seems like something is failing at the VOD. Not so much fun.

On the other hand, it was astounding at my sister-in-laws this afternoon as to how much leeway they gave Comcast for the pixelating. It was worse than what we're seeing. I was truly shocked.

Re: HD Pixellation Back (Again) in Philly

Cee-
Last night, CSN seemed immune to the tiling. For some reason, I think the equipment issues only affect the channels they don't obtain locally.

As far as Comcast - yes, even in Wilmington, their PQ is terrible. Their HD offerings look extremely cloudy.

I really just hope they've nailed this and make the change tonight. If not - we're stuck with this until the following evening.

Re: HD Pixellation Back (Again) in Philly

Sorry I'm not seeing this, even though I am only watching the HD stuff on an SDTV, all I have noticed was audio dropouts.

My kids have completely decimated my 40"LCD. The Playstation2 on the bigger screen, and the Nintendo GameCube on the PIP on the 40"LCD.

They even stole the DVR and put it in their room.

All this for being at work all day. My wife had no idea what they were doing because she was out doing some yard work (that the kids should have been doing themselves).

I will be putting everything back together this evening so I can see how bad the PQ is. When I confirm it, I'll add to the group ticket.

Having a couple of 6th graders running around unsupervised during the day is like having Al-Qaeda over for dinner.

I know you don't want to hear it from me, but if you're going to post your opinion so am I. Hopefully, folks from Verizon won't read this thread and think everyone is going to sit back and say "Oh Well - Could Be Worse" to unwatchable television they're paying for.

It doesn't matter what "anything else out there" is. I don't give my money for "anything else out there." I give my money to Verizon for a service. Their end of the bargain is to provide that service.

No, Comcast overall picture quality is not as good as Verizon. What does that have to do with this? Absolutely nothing. What good is "crystal clear" picture if what you're seeing are crystal clear tiles across the screen every 45 seconds? What good is "CD Quality Audio" if it drops out every three minutes?

I love my FiOS, too. When it works. That's becoming increasingly rare around here.

My breakup shows up more on my Tivo 3 than on my tv's with cablecards and I went through this from April 16 to May 6 and then it magically cleared up. Let's hope verizon can find out where their light beams are crossed

Tonight I'm seeing something I've never seen before (on HBO, SHO and maybe some others). I'm going to guess that frames are dropping because the picture has a sort of jerky look to it, not unlike looking at a DVD that is being FF'd at 1.5X.

Well, I was watching a show recorded Friday on SCI-FI and I had the weidest experience. About 10 minutes into the show an Allstate commercial came on and the DVR kept jumping between 10 minutes and 55 minutes (with pixellation) and finally settled out at 55 minutes meaning the show was almost over. This was recorded at 10:00 PM (EDT).

Anyone else ever seen something this weird?
