| reply to JeepMatt Re: HD Pixellation Back (Again) in Philly
Just heard from VZ Direct (Joseph) and it's "same old"/"same old".
Equipment was ordered yesterday, overnighted, will arrive today, they'll install late tonight, and we'll see how it is tomorrow. They do need to get their process streamlined and maybe move some parts closer to this location. |

1 edit | reply to knarf829 Knarf- I almost spit out my lunch when you read your post.
I wonder if this is the 1st time they're actually "replacing" it? Hmmmm....
But in all reality, this whole thing makes their planning and support look rediculous.
So, for all you Philly people reading this - be prepared for yet another evening of tiling and crap-tastic television.

| reply to knarf829 lol Are you sure the parts ordered are not bandaids? It seems the bandaid used time and time again doesn't last very long. I am thinking of switching to another service if VZ does not get their act together. |

| The latest update is that the equipment WILL be replaced tonight - however now they are investigating even MORE problems.
Dear God...it keeps getting worse. So now we have no confidence at all this will be fixed tonight.
The issue is with the equipment that supplies the Philly VHO the video feeds. Which makes sense - since I could watch CSN-HD last night with no problems. VZ gets CSN and CSN-HD via a direct fiber feed. -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

| I'm glad they're looking into other problems. Maybe they've just been fixing something sort of obvious and not doing any digging into anything else that may be wrong. They really do need to take a more active role in finding problems instead of waiting for customers to report them.
Strangely, absolutely nothing I recorded last night had any problems (TLC, Bravo, Discovery SD, Travel channel, CBS-HD). Just lucky. |

| said by CeeZee :Discovery SD Recorded MythBusters ("pigeons in a truck") last night, signs of tiling once or twice. Everything else I recorded last night had severe problems - three hours of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, all plagued with problems.
said by phlydude :Has anyone gone to any of the major media outlets in the Philly area? investigative reporters that haven't a clue about the technology that they report on might find this interesting Might help bring the problem to a final head if the big wigs get thrown in day long meetings because their "state of the art" service was being bashed on the local news. The idea's been thrown around a few times for fun but nobody's followed through with it. -- # /sbin/reboot |

| Surprisingly, I haven't seen any tiling or breakup since i've been home tonight.
Watched my DVR'd episode of Top Chef on Bravo from last night - nothing there - and haven't seen any Live TV tiling either... -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

1 edit | I didn't see any tiling on anything I DVR'd last night ... including Top Chef. I recorded Top Chef, Mythbusters, Criminal Minds, Honey We're Killing the Kids, etc. last night and didn't see any problems with them. If I hadn't checked out this morning the channels that were mentioned by others I wouldn't have thought there was still a problem. But I do watch FoodTV-HD and HGTV-HD alot and they clearly had problems this morning. Sooner or later I would have watched them and seen a problem.
And since I came back around 5:00 pm I haven't seen any more tiling. Go figure.
My experience earlier was that it was very brief, but now I see no problems.
Edit: If I hadn't known they hadn't replaced the part yet, I would have thought I was losing it. |

| Agree Cee- Maybe they did work on that "other problem" they had found.

As to Top Chef ... I think there were too many to 'pack their knives'. No one did incredibly well and they couldn't come to an agreement. |

| TC is definitely good this year...
Yes - CSN-HD looks great tonight - best of the 3 nights this week. Of course Ryan just struck out again with a man on 3rd...but....at least no tiling!
Or, maybe they knew we were pissed and swapped the equipment out real-time? -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

3 edits | Looking decent here as well*, no severe tiling/lines on USA Network and Universal HD like last night. Thought they were waiting until "safe hours" to fiddle with the equipment?
This might sound a little pessimistic, but how long is this "fix" going to last, how long until this problem pops up again? Or, have they really fixed it once and for all?
except for the still ongoing issue with TNT SD "flickering," not related to this |

1 edit | Well, Checked things out this morning - and, just like later last night - things looked great.
I'm also waiting to confirm if they did swap out the bad equipment - as everything looked even sharper today. The HD's were quite 'poppin'.
Let's all hope they've finally figured this thing out.
Anyone else, please chime in if you're still seeing any issues. |

| NO GOOD IN NEWTOWN!!
Sorry to say my signal in Newtown,Pa is still bad as of 9 AM. Same channnels have the same digital breakup as the last few days. Again, the problem seems to only show up on my Tivo 3 tuner and not on my tv with cablecard and I am curious if everyone else is seeing the problem only on their DVR or other cablecard tv's.. I'll check the signal later from work on my Slingbox and chime in if there is a change. I hope the quality of life is improving for the rest of you using the DVR.

| Well, I've been doing a little channel surfing and haven't seen any problems. I checked out all of the channels we were having trouble with earlier. And during the length of time I had them on, I sure would have seen something yesterday.
I also think that everything looks exceptionally sharp.
So, no trouble here on my DVR. |

1 edit | reply to JeepMatt I'm not seeing any breakup (did nominal "flipping" this morning via my 2500 - not in front of the HDTV right now), but boy-oh-boy do CNBC and Fox News look like analog cable right now. All the news channels look kinda soft. Didn't look like this yesterday.
Edit to add: Other channels look pretty good. I wonder if they get the news channels in a different way than the other SD channels. |
