Re: HD Pixellation Back (Again) in Philly

Knarf-
The softness could be an after-affect of the hardware swap (if they did it). Or, I could just be talking out of my ass.

If you can, update Joe of this.

Once I'm able to get in front of the HDTV and poke through the HDs to make sure I'm no longer seeing that problem, I'll do one big update of my Direct ticket.

If the trade off is softness on the news channels vs. unwatchable everything else, I'll take the softness.

I updated Joseph at Direct and am wondering if GeekGirl1 in Morrisville has improvement as we are both in the same area. It's still bad at 10:50 and will advise any change.

Jack-
What channels are you seeing problems on? Any specific ones?

JeepMatt:

Copy of what I sent to Joseph,

Looks like the change may have helped some of the people but not me! As of right now via my slingbox I can see that 120 Life, 826 ESPNHD, 827 ESPN2-HD, 833 HDNET, and 834 HDNETMV at a minimum are still showing pixellation on my Tivo series 3. Not sure if it just in the northeast side of Phila where I am as people south and west seem to indicate it is better.

Thanks Capt-
It doesn't look like any of the FIOS Direct folks are in yet today - so we won't get any answers until they do.

Hooray!! MAYBE!

It looks like all the trouble channels at my end have cleared up (For Now!), the ESPN1 & 2HD are showing 100% strength and no breakup. We'll see what happens later today, slingbox is great for keeping a eye on problems while you are working (if you can do things like that). I'll give an update later tonight if all is still well.

Nearly 6PM, and none of our tickets on this issue appear to have been updated at all today. If a fix was put in, you'd think they'd notify us so we could celebrate while the fix was still working (don't they usually break sometime on Sunday?).

Still seeing tons of pixellation and streaking. Hallmark, SCI-FI (both SD), and STARZ-HD.

No joy here

NOTE - updated my Direct post.

For the first time I have seen it in South Jersey (Marlton)

It has since cleared up.

All quite here in Yardley. Phillies and Eagles look OK, except that the Eagles game (SD) would be much improved if the announcers would just stop their stupid yapping and shut up about everything except the game in progress.

It hasn't been evident on local things (network channels, CSN), just national channels.

I saw the same problem while watching Little League World Series on ESPN2HD (7:30 to 8PM)

Same thing in SoVA, must be a national problem now.

I took a look at ESPN-HD from 8:30 PM to 9:00 PM several times, but no pixelation.

It looks like they recycled the bad part and are now using it in Virginia.

Just checked all my problem channels in Newtown, Pa:
HDNET, HDNET MOVIES, ESPNHD, ESPN2HD plus Life, Hallmark and SCI-FI have all cleared up for now with 100% signal strength. It appears the equipment change in Philly fixed some but not everyone's bad signal.

Guess I leave a message for Joseph on Direct but probably no one will see it until Monday.

Hope the remaining areas clear up also.

Jack

Since the Direct forum was on vacation yesterday, I did a live chat this morning to get a ticket update.

Apparently our "group ticket" is still open and being worked. They are analyzing all feeds being sent to Philly.

My personal ticket did not have any updates - only that it was linked to the group one. All updates and status changes will be reflected in the group - if any of you decide to call in.

Well, I'm not sure if it's fixed or not. After the Eagles game (GO BIRDS) I watched a SCI-FI program I had recorded on the DVR during the game and it was fine.

Have more stuff on the DVR from last night that I will watch later today and see if it cleared up on other channels.

If by chance it is a similar issue to what we had here, SciFi was unaffected here.
