Earthlink WiFi in Corpus Christi

Hooked up with Earthlink WiFi for 3 days and it doesn't look good. Very strong signal(only about 200 to 250 ft. from 2 different antennas. The speed is terrible, only avg. 250Kbs with 250ms latency. When Feather WiFi had the city WiFi and it was free, I was getting 2 Mbs + speed from a cheap USB WiFi dongle. Don't try their on-line support chat, they are reading from scripts. Phone support was a lot better but it takes about half an hour on hold before you speak with someone. He didn't fix the problem but promised a tech would be out to check the node within 24 hours. I kind of doubt a phone tech who is probably in India, can get a truck to roll to a node in my area in 24 hours! I'll give them a couple more days and see what happens. I'm sure glad I didn't cancel my DSL line!

Yeah, you're having about the same issues I'm having. I suspect they're chaining their wifi routers as repeaters across large areas and getting massive loss between them. Try a traceroute, you may see what I mean. It's pretty obvious to me here.

Good luck trying to cancel. I've been on the phone with them for 2 hours just to try to cancel.
