Haven't seen it this bad.

It really started last night. I was up around 3 AM EDT or so talking with my son on the trusty Vonage softphones and I noticed the Skype taskbar icon trying to reconnect.

From the announcements on Skype:

Problems with Skype login

By My status Joosep on August 16, 2007.

UPDATED 14:02 GMT: Some of you may be having problems logging in to Skype. Our engineering team has determined that it’s a software issue. We expect this to be resolved within 12 to 24 hours. Meanwhile, you can simply leave your Skype client running and as soon as the issue is resolved, you will be logged in. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Additionally, downloads of Skype have been temporarily disabled. We will make downloads available again as quickly as possible.

Thanks for all the replies. I found out the same response right after I left the message.

I sent a company wide message because at least half of my users are using it to help us save on our phone bills.

Thank the lord, no. My wife has a co-worker that got stuck in that mess. I have no idea if it is all working or not. I will have to ask.

Of course happens the exact time I install a new router, meaning I spent an hour trying to figure out what crazy firewall setting was blocking Skype..... Then testing Skype on my PPC phone and realizing it was a system wide issue.

my Skype closed by itself. I just restarted it, and was "online" for about 30 seconds. My green changed back to gray, where now it sits.

EDIT: Oops! It just closed again. 9,000,000 people world-wide .. HOSED! Our old friend noodler would be proud!

You know, I have taken advantage of this Skype outage to really try out Gizmo. I use it with Grand Central for incoming, but hadn't used the call out feature before today.

Jeebus, what a letdown.

Call out calls don't, well, call out. I was unable to get a single call to dial out. I got nothing at all but dead air. When someone called my GC number Gizmo rang and answered just fine but would not call out. Wasted $10 on that sucker.

To the fine people at Skype; get the freaking wheels back on the tracks and lets get this thing moving again. PLEASE!

Skype still not working here... 6 AM EST.
Is this a problem with the new software? version 3.5.0.202
is what I'm using and right after downloading it recently this problem started for me.

Not sure whether it's that or just an overall system problem affecting their 10 gazillion users now worldwide.
