I don't think WiMax will make a significant dent in the home broadband market. A great many people simply accept their ILEC or CATV company as an ISP, but it's nice to have some competition. Where Sprint can do some damage to them is if they put together a good bundle of WiMax data with VoIP because the ILECs and CATVs are not poised to offer good mobile VoIP bundles.
Where I think it will have an effect is on WiFi mesh networks (which are more than ever beginning to look like a bad business model) and on customers (like me) that are willing to pay in order to avoid searching for open WiFi hotspots and either can't get or don't like the current VZW and AT&T 3G service offerings.
