Hob Was that sarcasm ?? There are a LOT of DSL ISP's out there in Videotron's territory offering unlimited access for around 30$ a month. Why the hell would i watch my consumption to make sure i don't go over their stupid cap instead of switching to another provider ?
Unfortunately, a lot of users don't have this luxury and ARE going to get raped come the month of October..

Leaving out the fact that I think 100 Gb is an enormous amount of Data, no one is getting raped.
They just cut their usage back to the norm.

No I am not dictating to anyone...I am contributing to a discussion thread in an on line forum with my views.
While I understand these views differ from the general populous of this site, it does not take a Brain surgeon to work out that not everyone is downloading 40 HD Movies a month, or even 10....or even one.

you show up on every single post where bandwidth is discussed arguing that caps are a good thing. since you seem to be so gung-ho towards limiting uses of others' bandwidth, you should start an isp where limits are disclosed up front and see how many people sign up for your service.
even if somebody is not downloading ten HD movies or even one, nobody wants to buy a product they perceive to be limited. if the ISPs are overselling their bandwidth, that sounds like their fault. this entire issue is just about the ISPs trying to save as much money as possible. if you think that comcast and adelphia and AT&T have enough money, that's fine. you should sign up for the most expensive package they have and use as little of it as possible. of course, that means you should probably stop coming here.. you won't be missed. |

Grannie Smith has no idea what 100 Gb is and so might shy away from the service even though she would never hit a cap.
I do have an issue with those who perceive that its their god given right to max out their connection 24/7 on stuff that they could never watch in a lifetime.
The purpose of a company is to make money for their shareholders. Maybe you could start a charity whose purpose is to raise money for people to download 40 HD Movies a month. Good luck.

Adelphia has no money. It has no assets, they were recently sold.

Once the connection is unlimited, i can abuse it night and day 24/7. If the ISP don't like it, put a cap on it and advertise it like Videotron did.
