NAT/Upload Speed

I have 2 problems:

I was reading this about the COD4 beta and saw this:

2. What on earth is NAT and why should I care?
To take it down to extremely simple terms, NAT is short for Network Address Translation and it helps determine how your router will interact with the internet. If your NAT settings are set to be restrictive, that means you are probably restricting your connection to other players. To check these settings, go to the Xbox 360 Dashboard and test your connection. At the bottom of the test results, you will see your 'NAT Type.' You want it to read 'Open.' If it says 'Moderate' or 'Strict,' you may experience some problems playing online.

so i started to thinking, maybe thats why everytime i host a game on xbox live no one really ever joins or it takes a looooooooong time. So i ran the test and it was in fact true, my NAT setting came out at Moderate.

Is there some way i can change my router setting or something so i can "open" NAT?

next, i got the 5/2 plan and when i run speed test, my upload speed tops out at

Download Speed: 5194 kbps (649.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1853 kbps (231.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

is that how its supposed to be?

Those speed tests are in line with what most people report.
