IMHO, Keyspan didn't want the financial responsibility of when it went under...so they used E-Path as the middle man.
I've seen the footprint that KeySpan has (think everywhere a telephone pole is....), and on most significant roads there is fiber that they ran, manage, and own.
I've seen their network map, and WOW! KeySpan was going to provide my company 50/50 for next to nothing. They had the capability to scale us up to multi gigabit with no trouble.
I really think that LightPath/Cablevision should have taken this on. With the new Cisco AP's with the built in DOCSiS modems....
CV should have "partnered" with this company, made them fork over the $$ to buy a bunch of these.....and then just dropped them on poles. |
