Re: Hiya my friends! I've been staring at an empty text field, wondering what to type, for quite some time now.. so let me just start writing something..
I guess it's...that I always had the believe or 'knowing' that Bill would make it in the end... winning this war .. even if it was going to take him many battles and years of fighting.
Then I received the word that he didn't win the last battle.. and I'm not sure if I feel sick, numb or depressed.. perhaps much more..
We all know that he was a very brave man.. someone with a huge amount of strength and stamina. This is something that, like all of you, I have always admired.
Sadly I have never been able to meet him in real life, but I will always remember him; For his actions and for his humor, for the wisdom and the inspiration in both the publicly and privately shared messages.
It's indeed very sad that someone so terrific had to suffer so much. Perhaps there's also somewhere a slight feeling of relief, knowing that Bill does not have to fight anymore and that he's pain free now. I can only hope that this feeling will grow if the initial shock wears down and acceptance grows.
Bill, it was a privilege knowing you on this plane of existence. Thank you for everything!

At times like this, words alone cannot convey the sorrow and loss my heart feels upon hearing about the passing of our Knight, Bill. I have memories of Bill coming to my rescue during my battle with cancer. I remember him sending me an "angel guardian" to watch over me while he and other folks here "watched" and waited for me to recover. I did recover and I've wanted so badly for Bill to recover -- to beat this awful damn disease.
When I first heard of Bill's passing, my heart sank so low that I couldn't bring myself to come here and write about what I was feeling. Then I thought, well, Bill wouldn't/didn't shy away from posting because HE felt bad. Bill would want me to honor his long battle with this dreadful thing, this cancer. Bill's bravery and tenacity can, and will, serve as an example of top Knightsmanship. He never gave up -- never, ever, stopped fighting. I'm really upset by this, but I know that Bill would want us to follow the example he set. He would want us -- no, he would demand, that we keep up the fight to eradicate cancer. I crunch. I crunch. I rise to keep crunching...in memory of our Knight. I crunch. I miss you, Bill... |
