 | Not only NO, but H311 NO!!!!! |

 | I see it now...1st the cell companies sell your numbers to advertisers, then they ask you for a fee not to have these calls sent to your phone...they get revenue both ways and the consumer gets reamed (without the curtousy of vasoline )both ways!

Seriously, I'm still looking for the cell phone that's just a phone. No texting, email, web, ringtones, camera, or other junk, just talk.
It's kinda like the Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot and honest politicians. |
|
 | You're not going to find one that has no texting, email, web or ringtones, but, you can probably find one that has no camera, don't buy a plan for texting, email, web or ringtones and set the ringtone to a standard ring sound, and just don't use the other features.
The market has moved away from the phone you're wanting, and it'd be such a niche market that your phone probably won't be created. |

OK, very funny. It's not the inclusion of the other things that I mind, it's that you have to be careful to avoid pushing the wrong button to avoid getting charged for something unwanted. What I'd like to see is phones that the user can control and decide what to run on them.
But yeah, they'll probably charge you one way for ads and another way for no ads. |

| reply to i1me2ao Yeah, I'm staying away from Video, Internet, and music on cell phones. I do mainly conversation, but I also do a limited amount of text messaging, and occasionally use VZ Navigator. I like text messaging because its unobtrusive; so if I'm trying to get a message to someone who's in a meeting, texting is a good way to do that without interrupting the whole meeting. I also think that being able to use my cell phone to get driving directions is a great tool in a pinch. -- DAMOX Proud to be a member of Team Discovery |

I'm glad to have a corp discount plan, which doesn't require any bundled data BS to get a reasonable price on a new handset. -- Canada = Hollywood North |

 | reply to swhx7 A new beta version of the iPhone might be fore you.
There's a beta right now of an iPhone that is JUST a phone and a media player.
It has a screen for the keypad and to display video, and to act as the "circle" interface for the iPod..and that's it. No web, no mail, no camera, it's about 1/2 the width of the existing iPhone and about 2/3rds the over all size.
It's may be out sometime in the future (June 08) and it may not. Think of it more like an iPod with a phone...than a phone with an iPod. |

| reply to swhx7 When I started with Verizon Prepaid a couple years ago, I got a very basic Audiovox phone that had no text, web, camera, or anything fancy. It even had a plain monocrhome screen. When I switched to T-Mo Prepaid, I started out with a Samsung X495 which had no web and no camera, but had the ability to purchase wallpapers and ringtones from T-Zones. It also had IM (AOL, Yahoo, or ICQ. Could only log onto one at a time). |
