A lot "Less than 10gb". Just surfing and downloading occasional updates, programs, etc. is all I do.

Wow, it's quite startling to see the GBs that are downloaded. And I really thought 30-50gb was a lot. Pales in comparison

Yeah, I doubt it, unless MTA themselves decided to. It's not worth it, though, and they would go bankrupt before you knew it. Installing fiber to the home is quite an investment, and takes several years to make the money back.

I think she's more or less happy that she can getbroadband, as most places in the same situation (40 miles from the nearest city [that's other than Wasilla, Owlbet See Profile!]) with a low population don't get broadband as easily.
I don't know how true it is, but I've heard for the third time that fiber is coming to the Valley. Imagine that, a little hick town 40 miles from the nearest big city getting fiber BEFORE the nearest big city.

Then again, rumors are to be taken with a grain of salt.

I use my ISP's online tool.
Ditto!

Here is MTA's online tool & my usage. My ISP caps usage to 10GB a month. I've never gone over it in the 7 years I've been with them.
10gigs??? OUCH!

I'd say over 100gb every month, up to 400-600gb for some months.

I had to up my limit to 20 GB early this year due to someone finding out that they can watch videos online. The March usage is going down as the days it watches them disappear.

Well, I wasn't sure exactly what you mean by upload and download. So I assume you mean total usage.

I have been sharing pictures back and forth for the past year, and i use Skype all the time. I am sure I am in the 10-30 gig range. I also web cam often too.

I have bought nor borrowed any music or movies at all. I do stream some off of youtube and watch clips etc. I have not bought music in 10 years nor stole it as the RIAA would say.

That said, this was based on my usage alone. 3 more computers in the house. I will assume with those added I push the 50 gig mark.

Right. They don't cap you for downloading no matter what.
For the 2 months where i uploaded ~600gb, i had boost. They don't cap for boost users either.
Lucky for you I suppose. I would imagine that most other ISP's would have dropped you like a hot potato long ago with usage like that!

1000+GB?? Wow that's a lot of traffic. I assume you must have a business connection, no? If not, I must say I am shocked you never received one of the "nasty grams" you read about on this site!
OOL doesn't send nastygrams. they just cap your upload[unless you're on boost]
Do you mean they cap your download? If they capped your upload, that wouldnt really prevent you from downloading, which is what they (providers) claim is the issue. Most people download far more than they upload anyway, although if you were prevented from uploading data it would effectively stop you from being able to use the internet!
