| at&t I always thought the 1980's break up of Ma Bell was a mistake but I never minded the original AT&T. SBC (Southwestern Bell) which is now known at at&t (lower case thank you for the young hipper look, I'm not kidding) is absolutely horrible. They bought Pacific Bell/Nevada Bell where I live and have been nothing but trouble:
1. Closed our local payment center/equipment pickup center.
2. Promised more DSL by installing RT's (remote terminals) but that's never happened. Their DSL in Sacramento is next to zero. Comcast rules the roost here because of the lack of CO's and no RT's.
3. They seem to use us as a cash cow. Old brittle wiring is common.
You know how when a company buys another one of the first things they do is eliminate the old company's logo? Well, the other day I saw a newly repainted at&t van (it had been an SBC van that still had the Pacific Bell star key symbol * from years ago. It was big, like 3 feet x 3 feet, red and black. Couldn't miss it from a football field away. How the painters of the vans let that mistake pass is beyond me but it was nice to see the old logo still prominently emblazoned on a at&t van. |
