Re: [Equipment] IP8100-1: How to add handsets?

The advice by the other posts do not work. In order to reset the handset you must do the following:

1. Turn off the base (unplug the a/c cable from the back). NOTE: You must do this with the base that the handset is originally registered. I am not sure how to do it if you do not have access to the original base, or if you have inadvertantly punched in the wrong ID#.
2. Hold the page button on the base and turn the base back on. The sends signals to the handsets to reset.
3. Turn off the base again.
4. Turn on the handset. It should prompt you for a new based ID #.
5. Reprogram all the handsets with the base ID#.

I think I understand what you're talking about. The handset you have is registered to another base and refuses to "give up" even though the base is not around. Try taking the battery out for a long time (days?). When you power it back up, the handset screen should automatically ask you to enter a code from the bottom of the current base so the handset can register with it and receive a handset # assignment (like Handset 4).

So how do you reprogram the handset. I have looked for instructions online and at VTech and there are not any instructions for reprogamming them. I have found instructions for how to add a new handset, but not how to reprogram/reconfigure.

It's in the directions from vtech. I got for 4 with the bases and reprogrammed one base for voicestick for use with all 4 handsets.
$5 per Vtech X 4
$5 to voicestick for 1000/out going minutes was free incoming
$25 for the whole package on a $28 Amex gift card.

Thank you Vongaes!

But I want to configure a handset that I already have from one system to the base of another system. I need to know how to reset the handset to be able to get the option to associate it with another base.

According to Vonage's help forums, you can have 4 cordless phones on your system: '»www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic17694.html'

If you buy new extensions from Vtech, eBay or BestBuy or wherever you can find them, take the charged battery from your single existing phone and put it in the new phone. It will ask for numbers off the bottom of your base and will then connect as handset2. According to Vonage's help forums, the bases are all the same and all can handle 4 cordless phones. The -1, -2 etc. simply indicates how many cordless phones come with that package.

I have two IP8100-1's and would like to use one base with both handsets. I know the IP8100-2 and IP8100-3 allows you to add handsets and think that since the base on all models (-1,-2 & -3) are all the same this should be possible. Has anyone ever accomplished this and if so can you please advise me on what I need to do.

Thanks
