2Wire → 2Wire 1250 Broadband (BT Home Network in UK) and Vista

Vista flags up the 2Wire router as incompatible with the OS.

I currently run a dual-boot system with Vista HP x32 and XP Pro SP2. In XP no problems. In Vista no connectivity.

Vista recognises that the 1250 is connected (via USB) but will not install the provided drivers from CD. The 2Wire downloads page does not have a Vista driver listed for the 1250.

Am I screwed or is there a way to get the 1250 working in Vista?

Direct USB connections are not supported in Windows Vista with current drivers. I would recommend switching to a ethernet or wireless connection.
