From what I've read it's a problem with Vista and AOL 9.0 and un-installing and re-installing AOL doesn't help. The only solution I found was you have to do a Vista restore back to like it came from the factory then re-install AOL 9.0.
One other mention was that if you were running Zone Alarm to un-install it because that was the problem.
As far as the missing file, I think it may go here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AOL\C_America Online 9.0\idb\SNMaster.idx
I also found this when searching the web.
quote: Do a search for the missing file snmaster.idx (be sure to check search hidden files and folders) I found copies under an application data backup file and copied it into the following path
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AOL\C_America Online 9.0\idb\SNMaster.idx
Along with the rest of the files in that folder.
quote: The only way I've been able to get online is to sign on as a guest. It's my understanding that the "snmaster.idx file" is kept stored on your computer and contains your password and screenname info.Since I have been signed in as a guest I have not been able to gain access to these settings.AOL's suggestion that I reinstall their software has been a waste of time.Anything short of accessing these settings will not help
