rocket9223457 @comcast.net	[Connectivity] Slow speeds and Dropped Connections Fredericksbur I am in Stafford, VA on Comcast's Fredericksburg, VA network and just got the HSI installed a week ago. The connection is terrible. In the evening the modem itself will lose RF connectivity and restart the sync on downstream very often.....sometimes as much as every couple of minutes. When it is up during "normal peak usage" times I am only getting around 250kbps on the downstream and I am on the 6MB down policy. Sometimes just going to DSL reports to do a speed test seems to drop the modem. I'm thinking my downstream is way over-utilized, or possibly I just have a bad modem, but I really think it is a utilization issue. I've called into support and they told me it was my router. I tried to explain to them that I have been a VoIP and/or DOCSIS engineer for two different cable companies over the last 7 or 8 years and know it is not my router and even ruled out the router long before calling support and have a suspicion that it is a bandwidth utilization issue. They just told me to contact my router's manufacturer. So being totally frustrated with the tech I told him that I would again take the router out of the equation and let the connection go for a day as being connected directly to the modem and then call back because I knew the problem would still exist. And of course it does still exist. Anyone else in this area with a problem? I am sure Comcast has someone that monitors these forums, so if so please have your engineers look into the downstream bandwidth utilization. rocket9223457 @comcast.net	reply to hobgoblin Thanks for the link. To be honest I went through all of that already on the phone with them and they don't seem to want to do anything about it. Maybe someone that cares will see this post and do something about it. I know other cable companies monitor their forums and work to correct complaints. I will also give their support one more chance tomorrow evening when I have time to troubleshoot it with them. I've got to run here in a minute.
