Re: IMG Bugs and missing features FAQ

But does it say it's HD in the description? Is there an HD logo?

No - neither had it - as I said, the show on right now is not in HD. (Comcast does that alot) But I did check NBC HD and the HD is there and NBC SD and the HD is NOT there. I'll have to wait til there's an HD show on CSN to see whether or not the HD is on both HD and SD CSN.

I have a problem similar. It's the guide data's fault. Look at the description for those two channels. Press info on the SD channel, is it showing an HD description in it? They are labeled wrong so the boxes are going by those descriptions.
There's something I don't understand, then. Why is my DVR trying to record channel 65 when I tell it to record the HD channel instead? I don't think it's just a question of guide data. Whether what's on the HD channel is HD or SD, the DVR should record from that channel. I think they have their channels crossed.

Bug on the NJ and NYC area systems:
Since the img upgrade Channel 861, a standard definition channel of WPIX, is being incorrectly indicated as being an HD channel.

You have to do one more step:

- turn on tv and stb
- turn off stb
- hit select on stb
- hit menu on stb

just got the new IMG update...so far I'm not impressed.
seems like a step back. I used to love the "favorites" button to scan my favorite channels while I continued to watch tv - the bottom of the screen would show 3 rows of channels. Now it takes up the whole screen - and I can get the full channel guide to a half screen, but not the favorites. Also, see that others are asking for a "circular" list of favorites. This is also a "feature" that I miss from the old software.

Per Gustavo, they're aware of the inability to record CSN-HD but they haven't yet fixed it. There's nothing you can do - there's no use trying to figure out why it's a problem - you just have to wait for the brain trust to figure out why they yet again released not ready for prime time software to paying customers and how to fix their error(s).

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the first pitch at the end of March, but then again I'm an optimist.

HD DVR shutting down after IMG upgrade

Ever since I got the new upgraded IMG in Kennett Sq, PA my HD DVR box has stopped responding on two different occasions, once last night when I came home from work and once this morning we I got up. My tv was just showing a blank blue screen and the box wouldn't respond. I had to unplug it both times, hit some of the buttons on the front and then it started up again. Anyone have this problem?

It's not a bug with the guide.
It's a "bug" when they claim that it'll do something ("handles video better" or whatever the line they used was) - and it doesn't do it. It's a "bug" when my borderline-acceptable video dips any further in quality.

»new IMG and worse picture quality

Call it "not a bug" all you want - the fact that my video looks worse with the new guide tells me that it is.

but that's the fault of quality of the episodes being given to the stations.
That may be for certain shows like Everybody Hates Raymond, but every show on TNT/TBS, shows on other channels as well? I find that really hard to believe.

You stated you had video issues with a couple channels on the old guide. You have the same video issues on the new guide. It's a bug in the new guide? How about it's an issue with the video for the channels regardless of the guide.

His video issues were fixed prior to the rollout.

I never had any video issues. I continue to have no video issues through the TiVo or through my SD boxes. Yet, somehow, my SD video through the 6416 looked fine on Tuesday and looks like ass now.

Not sure what you are responding to. My post is in response to a poster claiming video issues he had in the old guide and still has in the new guide is a bug in the new guide. Read the previous pages of the thread and you'll see the post I'm responding to and the statements made by the poster I'm responding to.

My bad on his issue - didn't see the "grainy" claim a few pages back and it wasn't referenced in your auto-quote. He does say that his picture looks *worse* under the IMG, though. Not sure how that's somehow *not* an IMG issue.

Doesn't change the fact that my (and a growing number of other posters') SD through the 6416 looked one way before the IMG and looks a different, worse way after the IMG.

Yes - last night at two different times I was watching SportsNet HD and the screen just went blank -no snow - nuttin'! I just channel + and - and it came back.

Re: IMG Bugs and missing features FAQ

Is there any way to get the original list of bugs and missing features in the first post of this thread updated now that everyone has the 1.04 version of the guide? That list is now badly out of date and there is no one place that has all the current (1.04) problems listed clearly. I'm thinking it would be very helpful for anyone from Verizon visiting these forums to see what still needs to be fixed (or for anyone complaining to Verizon you can show them the list as proof that others are experiencing the problem).

Maybe the Mods will let us start a new sticky thread specifically for problems with the 1.04 guide as this old thread seems to have become not very useful.

I asked this a few pages back when the patch was first released. Evidently, the original post is now old enough that it can't be editted anymore. The originator started a new thread asking for help on starting a new list, but nothing ever came of it.
I think a new thread might be in order, with a new list, that could be stickied, and the old one (this one) be allowed to die.

I agree We need a new Sticky for the newest 1.04 guide bugs & missing features ...
& with each rollout of a new update allow the previous sticky to be replace with a new one.
This will also benefit any Verizon software/techs as they won't have to deal with an 87 page thread with plenty of outdated / buried info ...

Now that the IMG 1.0.4 is rolled out everywhere, I think a new sticky thread maybe titled "IMG 1.0.4 Bugs and Requested Enhancements" is a great idea. Not sure if you'd need a corresponding one for location-oriented issues. As new versions are released I guess it might make sense to isolate them in a separate threads.

Part of my problem is that I don't know where to ask a usage question. It's not a bug or missing feature and it's not location-oriented. If I open a new topic will it just get closed?

Edit: Hi Meatchicken, you beat me to it!

Somebody mentioned the URGE music channels look worse now and are blurry. I just checked it and they are right. On the standard boxes it is clear, but the DVR is very blurry, I will try the different override settings later and see if it changes anything.
