Re: [Split] belkin frequent drops - psparrow

I've got the F5D8230-4 v2 firmware version 2.01.02 boot version 1.00.00 and I've had the same drop out problems. Update says my firmware is up to date. I have two wired Macs and one wireless Powerbook. When connected my signal is strong and uninterrupted. Every couple of days the router would just drop the connection. The problem apparently has been with the wi-fi. The wired Macs were often shut down while the laptop was online. If the laptop went to sleep the drop out would often though not always occur. What has seemingly solved the problem in a clumsy way is to keep one of the wired Macs turned on. It can be sleeping but apparently the wired connection is enough to keep the router working. Without the wired and on connection the router seems to suffer from ADD. When it drops I would have to power reset the router to get it to produce the wifi signal.

And when you try to upload the firmware into the router, you do this through the browser? Did you try a »TFTP programs to upload the firmware?

You can't use the latest firmware from the Belkin site as it is a corrupted file. Mentioned this and they had no response.

v2000

Funny in reading this board it seems that Belkin has continuous problems with many of their routers in dropping connections. And I have yet to find anyone that has had a solution. I can't believe that with all these people having issues that they can't fix the problem.

Model no F5D7231-4:

I have the exact same problems. Continual internet drops. I have had tech support emails going for over a month trying everything and nothing worked. Phone support you can't understand and they don't call back when they say they will.

Tried reducing connections on Azuerus to 20 max as one other mentioned but that hasn't worked either. Won't buy Belkin product again.
