SPA2102 Automated Unlocker - Live CD

For those of you who own a former Sunrocket SPA2102 and need to unlock it, this is a LiveCD that will do that for you. No support is provided, so read and follow the directions carefully.

Some notes:

1. Follow the instructions provided - if you don't follow the instructions, don't expect a lot of sympathy if it doesn't work.

2. If you use TeleBlend for phone service, DO NOT RUN THIS CD! The CD makes changes to your device that are incompatible with TeleBlend service, and no one here is going to be able to help you remedy that. Once again, don't run this if TeleBlend is your VOIP provider. Failure to heed this warning will result in problems.

Also, if anyone can help mirror this I'd appreciate it.

Note: If you downloaded a previous version, please delete it and get an updated copy from the following link.

By downloading and running the CD, you acknowledge and accept these risks and hold the author(s) of the various programs, scripts, and methods on the CD harmless for any damages.

In other words, if you have problems you are on your own and you have been warned.

PS: Thanks for the GC invite offers, I've got one now!

Note to mods: The CD is made with all GPL software. No copyrighted firmware exists on the CD. All copyrighted code on the CD is free to distribute per the GPL. Source code is available at »www.slax.org, among other places.

Would anyone mind verifying that it actually works? I built it entirely in VMware and haven't actually tested it....

Hi Undef,

It looks great! I unlocked mine earlier today but your Live CD is definitely the easiest way. I tried the CD to give you feedback, and I'm having two problems:

1. I booted the CD with my MacBook, and connected the MacBook to another machine. But the other machine couldn't acquire a DHCP address. I suspect this is because the Live CD doesn't have ethernet drivers for the MacBook.
2. This may not be a problem at all, or maybe it's related to #1. When I type in my MAC address, every digit I type is processed as a pair of digits. E.g., when I type "1234," it shows in the screen that I have typed "11223344." If I use the backspace key to delete one of the trailing 4's, the screen deletes both 4's and shows "112233".

I don't need the CD because I have my device unlocked, but maybe this post will be useful to others. Thanks for all your hard work!

My ATA could not get an IP from dhcpd as well when I tried the CD.

undef, if you give a shell after the boot we can debug.

Well, for me - I couldn't get DHCP either. But I set a static IP on the 2102 and it never tried to grab anything. I put it on a sniffer and the box just asks who has 67.133.234.53 and I don't think the webserver responds to that. Also, I put in the MAC address with the leading zeros and the program adds more zero.

OK, now I feel really stupid. I've been battling with the manual method and am stuck with the spa not pulling the cfg file down. The IIS log is showing what looks to be a 404 error. Having no luck resolving that, I found this cd and figured I'd give it a shot. It boots fine, but not being a Linux type I have no idea what to do after I log in. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.....

I'm working on fixing the problems that were identified. I'll have a new version up within the hour. For everyone who has not run it yet - please wait for the new version. A lack of locked devices (in my possession) makes testing rather difficult.

If I leave off the 000 at the front of the MAC and browse the dir, I see the proper file name with the prepended 000, but the 2102 never gets an IP (light keeps blinking) and of course no HTTP GET on the other machine.

Thanks for working on this.

You could sniff for the mac address, or possibly easier make a php script to serve all pages requested with the unlock.cfg file dynamically named as requested by the ATA(s).

I need a couple of volunteers who are willing to test the CD. First 3 to PM me get to beta test...

I'd rather not post another copy until the last kinks are worked out.

WD40 - How nice of you to volunteer to write the PHP script!

You can also do it with a simple rewrite rule. Simply rewrite all URLs to serve unlock.cfg

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/* /unlock.cfg

I'm using Monkey HTTP Daemon - Apache was giving me trouble and I didn't feel like messing with it. Feel free to modify and improve the CD to use Apache (or anything you'd like) and do the rewriting automatically.

OK, got unlocked using Apache instead of IIS. All's well. Many thanks for everyone's hard work on this. Hope things go well with the CD for those who need it.

Can some one post step by step procedure for using the live CD? I am unable to understand how to use it. Please help me unlock my gizmo. Atleast this much I should get out of the SR debacle.
Thanks

Can you tell me how you got ulocked using apache.
1. I have used XP and IIS
2. Connected my PC to internet port of gizmo
3. Set the IP to have static IP suggested by the OP
4. on IIS I have created a virual directory called linksys and pointed to the directory suggested by the OP.
5. I could see the file when I have typed the IP/linksys.
6 But when I entered the password on the phone I am getting a message password not valid.
Am I missing something here?
