| So, who buying an iphone? »www.engadget.com/2007/08/24/ipho···24-2007/
quote: It's high noon, Apple and AT&T -- we really hate to break it to you, but the jig is up. Last night the impossible was made possible: right in front of our very eyes we witnessed a full SIM unlock of our iPhone with a small piece of software. It's all over, guys.
The iPhoneSIMfree.com team called us up to prove their claim that they cracked Apple's iPhone SIM lock system, and prove it they did. (No, we don't have a copy of the unlock software, so don't even ask us, ok?) The six-man team has been working non-stop since launch day, and they're officially the first to break Apple's SIM locks on the iPhone. It's done. Seriously. They wouldn't tell us when and how they would release it to the public, but you can certainly bet that they'll try to make a buck on their solution (and rightly so). We can hardly believe the iPhone's finally been cracked. No, scratch that -- we just can't believe it took this long.
Again: we can confirm with 100% certainty that iPhoneSIMfree.com's software solution completely SIM unlocks the iPhone, is restore-resistant, and should make the iPhone fully functional for users outside of the US. Read on for details and links to our video, and check out the gallery of images below.

Sure, it is really killing them.
They added NET 1.5 million wireless customers in the last qtr. »quicktake.morningstar.com/StockN···Symbol=T
Analyst Note 07-24-2007 AT&T added about 1.5 million net new wireless customers during the quarter, so iPhone clearly had a positive impact on growth, which bodes well for the current period. Wireless revenue growth continues to accelerate thanks to good customer growth increasing adoption of data services. »www.marketresearch.com/product/d···9023&g=1
At the end of 2006 AT&T Wireless had 61 million customers. Add in the approx 2.5 million added since then and AT&T now has close to 64 million customers. It sure doesn't look like they are leaving in droves, or at all for that matter. -- -- Internet News My BLOG My Web Page

The stuff AT&T pulls on their customers, and in turn pulls on us, is beyond asinine. I'm obviously not able to go into detail, but needless to say calling in to Rogers and speaking with someone there is an outright pleasurable experience compared to the morons* I get to deal with at AT&T.
* now, not everyone at AT&T are morons. Their Tier 2 support is done in Canada for the most part, and there is a distinct quality difference between the obviously-American reps and the ones handled in Canada. It's gotten to the point that, on many occasions, I refuse to deal with anyone unless they're located in Canada. It makes -that- big of a difference.

The thing is, every single software update that comes out for the iPhone will break the hack. It ends up being a lot like running Mac OS X on a PC. You can do it, but is it worth the time?
