Re: Post a photo of something you ate today

It's really good, actually. I used to use the peanut butter sauce on chicken and found that it tasted good when poured over pasta which was served on the side. So I started making peanut butter pasta.

In case anyone's wondering, here's the recipe for the peanut sauce:

1/2 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
2 drops hot pepper sauce
1 clove minced garlic
1/2 cup water

Combine everything except the water in a bowl. Slowly add the water, stirring until the mixture is creamy but not too watery.
To assemble peanut butter pasta, you cook some egg noodles, drain them, and then combine them, some veggies (I like broccoli, snow peas, and carrots), and the peanut butter sauce in a baking dish. Then bake at about 350 for 30 minutes. You can eat it hot, but it's also extremely good cold.

I'm guessing you're talking about my Peanut Butter Pasta, and yes there is. Thai food has some peanut butter noodles. Also, check out the appetizers section of any Chinese Food menu. The Cold Sesame noodles is often just basically a spaghetti with peanut butter sauce and sesame seeds.

Yum!
Part of my favorite summer supper. We live right in the heart of farm country, and there are lots of folks selling their harvests from their front yards. Best when purchased in the morning, right after they've picked it!

I agree, I am a farm girl, grew up in Iowa! My folks grew a 1/2 acre of corn. My summer favorites are corn on the cob, and watermelon!

Re: Sweet corn :-)

Looks good. We're going to have corn tonight. How do you prepare it? I typically boil it (since it's quick and easy). If I had a grill, I'd prepare it like my father used to. Wrap it in foil and grill it. Of course, then there's this article which got me to try it raw one day. Wasn't bad, actually.

We set the water to boil, then 6 minutes of boiling in the water. I'd prefer just enough to make the cob hot, but my wife leaves it in longer. The really tender sweet corn you can eat raw, or after a minute in the microwave. Dipping the unhusked corn in water then grilling it is good too! That steams the corn and leaves more flavor in it.

Some folks will even cook field corn, but it isn't as sweet and you have to pick it at just the right time. I don't care too much for that.

Our summer suppers are usually sweet corn, tomatoes from my little garden and a salad and sandwich, usually a burger, brat, Nathan's or BLT. For the vegetarians (and my usual summer breakfast), LTM (Lettuce Tomato and Mayo on Italian bread toast) is the sandwich du jour.

EDIT - just read your link - that's my sentiments too

ooh. Trader Joe's. One of the two stores (along with Wegman's) that my wife and I wish would open near us.

Very clever. But still, chomping on ciggies is the vision I get.

One of the best places to spend time even if just walking up and down aisles. However, one cannot leave there without anything!

No, one chomps on cigars, not cigarettes (especially with a good cognac).

I'd like a whole foods to open up near here, but I also hear that they are kind of expensive.

(We have Trader Joe's, but I've only been in there like 3 times and they've been here for a few years.)
