Vick Suspended Indefinitely

»news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=u···rch+News

-----

There is no penalty steep enough. If there is a God, may he strike Michael with all His vengeance.

The NAACP and everyone else that thinks Mikey's getting the short end of the stick can stand right next to him when he's faces the last Judge.

This isn't about race. And this IS worse than killing a human being...a human being can fight back and attempt to save himself. An animal can't.

Shooting, electrocuting, drowning or hanging. May he face a fate equally as cruel as what his forced upon his victims, with no mercy. May his children die before his very eyes...may be lose limbs in an accident...anything that makes him feel a fraction of the pain he meted out to innocent creations of God.

Yeah, right! While I agree with you it ain't gonna happen if Vick can still bring a buck or two to the NFL or the networks after (IF he ever goes) he gets out of the slam. Wish it wasn't so but unfortunately we live in a world of whores.

Claiming that killing an animal is worse than killing a human is absurd. I'm gonna have a hamburger.

What's truly absurd is painting shades of gray when it comes to nonsensical violence, death, cruelty and killing.

Cruelty is just that. If he's cruel to animals, it's only a matter of time before he snaps and crosses the line drawn in sand, and hurts a human.

It's not natural to want to cause pain to living things.

Is killing a rival gang-member the same as killing a soccer mom or a child? If you said no, then he's just as guilty for killing an animal. If you said yes, then he's just as guilty for killing a helpless animal as he would be if killed a helpless child.

Worse than killing a human? Are you trolling for negative responses? You must be kidding.

No I am not. A human being can fight back. Call 911 on his cell phone. We would hold prayer vigils in Peoria for her while we hunt some puerto rican guy who killed her. Hold telethons, Oprah would have a show, Dr. Phil could counsel the aggrieved.

None of that happens for hapless animals. People just duct tape their mouths and use them as bait dogs so they can't defend themselves against the dog they are training to be vicious. If the dog isn't "game" enough, it just gets hung, choked, beat, shot, electrocuted or buried alive.

What was the dog's fault?...loving unconditionally?...or fighting, but losing, for its life?

Nothing else needs to be said.

He's currently suspended indefinitely, without pay.
He's in breach of contract (the NFL Player Agreement) for violating the NFL Code of Conduct. Goodell has "turned the Falcons loose" to seek redress - that is: to get money back from the signing bonus he received. He'll be booted completely from the NFL when all is said and done.

The judge in the case is somewhat notorious for harsh sentencing. Don't be surprised if he gets 5 years. Granted, he'll be out in 2 - but that's still 2 prime years in 'quarterback' terms. Even if he does come back to the NFL (presuming they allow him back), he'll never be the same.

edit: Source article for my conjecture:

Cold comfort to those tens of his dogs for whom the most humane option now is euthanasia. Of course, they are the "lucky" ones compared to the others who didn't have even the option of a peaceful death.

Don't forget Leanord Little

It seems that everyone has lost focus on what is happening. A few years ago Leanord Little of the Rams killed a fellow human being while driving drunk. He got 45 days and no one even cared ..... His sentence was served to avoid conflict with playing football.

SO that excuses Vick? OJ got off too. does that mean that ANYONE who kills his (or her) EX should get off?

How could you possibly intimate from my post that I think he should be allowed back? I never stated an opinion in that regard - simply my conjecture on how long he'll be sentenced for, and what that means.

And to put some reference background to this, I have the pleasure of keeping the company of 2 rescued greyhounds (ever heard about what happens to them if they're unable to race?), and my eldest daughter has a rescued American Staffordshire Terrier (yes - that's a "Pit Bull").
Perhaps that information gives you an inkling of how I feel about abusive people.

As for kapil See Profile - while I admire your passionate speech, you are dead wrong about "abused" humans. Adults in an abusive relationship (regardless of gender) are nearly incapable of defending themselves - and children even less so. To claim that a human can "fight back" is inaccurate. You should target your angst against anyone that is abusive - regardless of whether their target is human or animal.

I didn't mean YOU specifically. Just that I can't believe ANYONE is entertaining the thought, hope, or whatever that he will EVER be allowed back!

Well - apparently there are some who believe that he was involved in, and I quote: traditional urban gaming activities
and that he is innocent, despite a guilty plea....

I NEVER want to see his dumb ass in uniform again - but, IF someone can turn a buck having him back, they will try.

Hot off the presses:
»news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070825/ts_···uhIE1vAI

quote:
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Nike Inc. said on Friday it had terminated its contract with Atlanta Falcons' quarterback Michael Vick after he admitted in a plea agreement he took part in an illegal, interstate dogfighting enterprise.

In a statement, Nike cited the "abhorrent" dog-fighting enterprise known as "Bad Newz Kennels," which Vick helped finance and operate from 2001 through April 2007.

Hit him in the pocketbook, baby.

No. It's just that I think that Little's situation would hold a higher priority to kick him out of football and be sent to prison for a long time. When it happened I don't think it even made the national press. If it did it didn't last long.

What Vick did was entirely wrong and he'll get what's coming to him. It's just that Little got off scott free and was a hell of a lot more wrong. What should carry more weight, someone who kills a human being or someone that kills a few dogs ??

I never said that ANYONE got off. Where did that come from ??? As far as OJ is concerned (I believe he is guilty as sin) the NFL's hands are tied. He was never convicted of anything. If the NFL banned him, OJ would sue, and probably win.
