1 edit | The FCC requirement was for dry 768/128 for $20.
The AT&T Southeast region is being offered dry DSL at basically their prices (which are different and a little pricier than the rest of AT&T) plus a $5 dry line charge. Apparently they have a dial tone (maybe for wetting purposes and line usage identification?) on the dry line. but you can't call out. »SAFA (Stand Alone FastAccess) - Confirmed today

| I was able to get that offer here in Connecticut as well. I called in they offered a $5 discount on my existing bill which i did not take so they took my order to switch me to Dry line DSL. They however noted that this will result in me being without any DSL service for about 5 - 10 days (which is fine).
If anyone is interested the number to call is 866.918.8377

Did you have a pre-existing DSL account, and were you able to keep your email accounts?

| Re: [info] Dry Loop Express DSL 1.5mb for $23.99?? Ok, I was also able to sign up for this deal. I opted for the Pro speed at $28.99. I was at Elite, so it will be tough to lose the speed, but I'll live. The rep also said I'll be down for like 15 days! That will be really painful. Luckily, I know a few wifi hot spots around town.
These guys tried REAL HARD to get me to take the $5 off instead, but I was able to resist.
I hope they eventually offer dry loop at elite speed for the 5 buck extra increment. -- Murph

| I made this switch too. I get the ball rolling last Thursday. I just called my home number and it was disconnected as of today. Since the first part of the process is done. How long can I realistically expect it to take before I'm back in service. It would be nice if they would re-provision it when they take the old line off. Wouldn't that be less overall work since they were working on it anyway? | |

| Re: [info] Dry Loop Express DSL 1.5mb for $23.99?? I too got back up and running very quickly. a day or two tops (not the 15 days they stated).
Problem though! I seem to be running at Express speed and not the Pro speed I signed up for. Can anyone help? (MrFixIt)? -- Murph

| I just signed up for the Dry Loop Service. I was on elite but was only getting upper 4megs so going to 3 shouldn't be too much of a issue. The best part is the money saving. 10-15 days they say scares me and I think its a scare tactic to keep your phone line. I did get the 911 scare but I'm fine with that. $28.99 for Pro service. Cant ask for much more than that. | |

I had thought that one could still dial 911 even without having phone service so long as the line was active.

| Re: [info] Dry Loop Express DSL 1.5mb for $23.99?? The Rep told me that with the Dry Loop you would not have a active phone even for 911. Now I was going by what he told me. I told him that my wife and I have cell phones and would be fine in case of an emergency. I got the "Cell phones are only good up to a 5 mile radius and will not give specific address even if you are unable to talk" It felt more like retentions then anything to be honest. | |

| Did anyone who signed up for dry loop have ATT cell service?? I just want to be sure I can get the same deal with out there cell service. I am thinking of getting dry loop pro(I have pro now) and useing call vantage. This will save me around $25 a month. Dry loop pro with tax around $32, call vantage about 30 with tax. My bill right now is about $88 with taxes. I am always looking for ways to save a few bucks | |

In looking at my comcast bill..it appears all the taxes are related to the TV portion..and not HSI.
I think this is a great move on AT&T's part. Lots of people nowadays don't want a landline and this lets them subscribe to a lower cost HSI line without the burden of carrying that. Even thought it's somewhat more than what they charge dsl + landline customers for dsl..the difference seems reasonable.
And certainly, T1 speeds are more than enough for web surfers and checking email.
Finally, a good move on their part that recognizes the way many customers these days want to communicate..outside of traditional pots lines.

| So I put my order in last Thursday. I get the call on Friday telling me everything will be done by the 26th and told them to start the Process on Monday(Today). So before I leave work today I call my number says out of order which is what I thought. I get home and the DSL was already switched.
So less than 24 hours Dry Loop done. All I have to say is w00t

1 edit | All I can say is WOW!!!....
I called up AT&T on Monday and asked for the Dry Loop DSL she asked me which tier I wanted at $23.99 or $28.99. She insisted SEVERAL times that it would take 15 days MINIMUM. Before it would work again. Like everyone else this made me nervous but because of your posts I said go ahead... (sweating because I am taking an Online Masters course and have an exam next week!)..
It was scheduled to be turned off today. I called myt number from work and the free forwarding message to my cell was already working at 12:30PM. When I got home at 10:00PM I saw the internet was working fine.. so the switch was made SAME DAY!!
Thanks to the posters and OP!!

| Ooops... spoke to soon... I lost sync this morning and it has been out all day.
Hopefully the down time will be short and it will be up again when I return home.
Seems silly as things were working fine and then they pulled the plug.. hope it wasn't just to make a point. (we told you 2 week minimum so every though you are working fine we are disconnecting you for two weeks!..)
