I really don't get your comment. How are we scamming anyone. We are offering potential clients the opportunity to try our service without any risk. On top of this Acanac was not even involved in posting this thread. From the looks of it a few clients saw our promo at redflagdeals.com and posted it here.
We will be running a free promo for our Voip service here shortly. The free 1 trial will be for our Residential Voip service plan. I am assuming your going to call this a scam as well. |

I am still having problems understanding your business model. What I know so far is this, companies have to pay $20/month to bell for access to dsl network. You are are offering dsl less than that to the customers. How can you survive? Or may be there something we don't understand.
You are offering 50G of web space for $4/month. also an amazing offer, voip is also same story, $9/month all features included. All of your offers are too good to be true or suspicious in other words.
There is no physical address on your website. You guys are not very active in these forums, If you want to be known and clear all bad vibes about you, get involved. Explain how you are doing business. Earn trust and succeed. |

1 edit | Thank you for your comments.
Lets start with our DSL service: Your correct that we charge less than what Bell charges us. In fact it will takes us roughly 3 years before we make up the losses for every new DSL client. We loose about $7-$8 each and every month during the first year of service. These losses include bandwidth, Bell charges, tech support and and everything else thats involved in offering DSL service. Simply put we are subsidizing your DSL service from Bell.
Now the big question is how do we make money. The promo is only available on the first year of service and for new clients only. The second year prices for our DSL service go up to $33.95 per month based on a one year term. Our biggest concern is client attrition during the second year of service. Fortunately our client attrition rates have remained low. The fact that we offer extra free features with our DSL plans help keep the attrition rate low. For example we offer 100GB of storage with every DSL order and we will soon offer an Online PC cable of 24Mbps download and 15Mbps upload. We are currently taking Beta testers.
Lets go on to our Voip service:
Our Voip prices are not promos. What you see is what you get. Please keep in mind that our $9.95 plan is targeting clients that have a Voip ATA or will be buying one. The features we offer are just a click on the server. We could charge more for each individual feature, but we don't have the marketing dollars of companies like Rogers or Bell. It's more important for us to get referrals than to make a few extra bucks per month. That fact that we include everything for one low rate also reduced our attrition rate. We are proud of the fact that compared to industry standers our Voip attrition rate is extremely low.
Web Hosting service: We get this questions allot and the simple answer is our size. Most people don't realize how many clients we host. We currently hosting over 40K clients. Please also keep in mind that not every client goes for the cheapest plan. In fact our Bronze plan does not even include MySQL. We have been in the Web hosting industry for over 9 years now. This is our bread and butter. As for the space we offer it's perfectly clear that we are overselling to a degree. This does not mean that you would not be able to use your allocated space or bandwidth, but it just means that a large percentage of the client base does not. At this moment a small % of the client base is using up 90% percent of our hosting resources.
There is no physical address on your website:
Maybe you missed it , but we do have a physical address in our website. It's locate in our contact us page at the following URL. »acanac.ca/support/contactus.php Just look to the left. We also have a small retail store located on Bloor Street in Toronto. Here is a link to a small picture of the store: »acanac.org/photos/b8/e5/ff/b8e5f···250.jpeg We also welcome visitors to our Mississauga office. Please just send me a PM and I would be more than happy to show you our office space and server room.
It is true that it will take time to earn trust in this community. Over the next several months we will offer a few promos as olive branches. In fact for the free Voip promo we will not even request any billing information. It will be a no strings attached 1 year free deal. We hope to offer this to about 500 users on this site. |

You want us to pick up another year of Acanac service. At the regular rate. Yet. You haven't dealt with the general speed issues literally halving the speed advertised, making this an incredibly slow service, and you want us to pay almost double the rate we're paying now, and you won't fix the problem (and please don't post this is a Bell problem, I'm to far from the CO etc, etc, etc , I'm tired of feeling like a birdie in a badminton game).
Ok. I think I understand.
//I'll sign up with Rogers first before that. At least I'm getting what they advertise. |

I think people are most concerned about the billing issue. The USD vs CAD issue and quick resolution to overcharge are the most important to me. I don't want to get trapped. |

We offer DSL phone support from 9AM to 12AM Monday through Friday. Your correct if the internet is down it would make it difficult to send an email. If the internet is competently down the the client has no way to gain access to the internet they would have to wait until the following day.
As for jackr's comment.
If your not getting the speeds your require it would probably be in your best interest to go with Rogers. The simple fact is that not all DSL clients will get 5Mbps. This is one of the main reasons why we offer a 30 day money back guarantee. If your no happy with the speeds you have nothing to loose.

Sorry, but at the moment we do not have any bundle promos. Acanac.ca is in Canadian funds and Acanac.com prices are listed in U.S funds. Both our Voip and DSL come with a 30 day unconditional money back guarantee. If you do encounter a problem with billing I am always here to assist. |

3 edits | So you're saying you'd rather dump your customers, than address the problem? And you'd prefer to only keep customers that are quiet, present you with limited problems, instead of going to Bell and finding out why so many of us have huge speed issues?
Please tell me that isn't your business model and that this hasn't been approved.
And, your offer is falling on deaf ears. I'm way past my 30 day mark. I also believe it's up the company to fix this issue.
//you should fix the problems you have first, before going out to spam the forum for new customers, don't you think? ///I'll be glad to cancel my service, if your company refunds me 100% of what I've paid so far. I paid in full for a one year contract. If your company would like to refund the full amount, I'll take my business elsewhere. |

4 edits | We try to address every problem, but if Bell tells us that your to far from the CO what can we do. . It cost us money to ship your modem out then reship it back. Lets not forget all the other work involved in setting up a DSL account. We do everything we can do resolve speed problems. Issuing refunds is not a cost effect strategy.
You need to realize that some clients no matter what we do will never get 5Mbps. DSL is distance dependent. This is one of the main reasons why we offer a 30 day money back guarantee.
How are we spaming the forums. We are answering questions from dslreports users . We also did not start this thread.
If your truly believe we are trying to take your money with out resolving your current problem I will issue you a complete refund. Including the time you have used. Please send me private message with your contact information and the exact day you wish to terminate.
Best Regards, Paul L. Acanac Inc. |

| Hi Paul L.
It is nice to see DSL companies' owners answering questions.
Right now I am having Bell Sympatico's 5056/800 fastpath speed profile, how likely will I get the same thing with Acanac?
I don't want to move to Acanac and get a lower speed profile than what I am having now with Sympatico. |

| Its great that acanac is answering questions. Before this thread, there was very little known about their business model. Their deal are kind too good to be true. Now I know why they are doing all this. I was not aware of size of their business at all.
Paul did answered all of my questions, which is great. I don't like trashing companies for no reasons. No company can satisfy 100% of their clients. Teksavvy has great ratings but still their forum filled with complains.
I just like to thank paul for letting us test drive their dsl. I have already recmended acanac to few of my buddies, wish you luck. |

And Teksavvy's staff are around the clock here to help their customers. Try getting this kind of help from Bell Sympatico or Rogers... I'm not sure you'll can.
So, every customer will encounter problems... it's the support they get that makes the difference. |

Your speeds should remain the same, but if for some reason Bell lowers your profile we would do our best to get it back to 5Mbps. |

| reply to Acanac Inc Do you have any idea when this free trial will be available?
I'm currently using my cell as my primary phone line, and haven't really considered VoIP, but if there were a 1-year free trial, I would definately give VoIP a shot.
I also have a friend who is currently using Teliphone. A free trial might convince him to give Acanac a try, since your per-month fee is cheaper after the trial. What's going on these days with number portability between Canadian VoIP providers these days? |

| reply to Acanac Inc Hi paul:
I have a issue, do not know if you can help. I have used acanac dry-loop dsl service for 6 months, in these months, I always can got 5M sync rate, but someday of the passed 10 days, my rate can only be 2.5-3M sync with many RX and TX FEC/CRC errors. I opened a ticket to dsl tac, after one day, Bell changed my profile to 2.5M and interve mode (previously it's fast mode), I think it's a wire issue, cause when I changed another jack in another room, it can sync at 3.5M-4M , much better. And it works well previously. |

The Free 1 year promo will be available towards the end of September. Around the 24th to the 28th of the month.
What's going on these days with number portability between Canadian VoIP providers these days?
We allow numbers to be ported out, but we are currently not porting any numbers in. As for other Voip companies it will depend. Some allow all porting and some do not.

This is a tough situation. If we send Bell and it is in fact an internal wire issue they will end up charging you. In fact we just had a client that was charged $100 dollars because of a similar situation. You can read the whole thread here: »community.acanac.com/acanac/view···p?t=4443
I also have a dry loop connection for my personal DSL line. I ran a phone wire directly from the DMARC location. I did not use any of the internal home lines. You usually find your DMARC in the basement. |
