If I need a dry line connection, can I still get their free dsl trial? I dont have a home phone.

Has anyone here seen the Google banners for the free voip trial? Or it's not started yet?

I have a technical question, though, before it's started. I just moved and so I have neither phone connection nor network connection. So who's going to give me a phone number and how do I set up a DSL connnection? Thanks.

Hi Taska,

If you are planning on using VoIP service and are interested in getting a DSL connection. You will require DRY DSL. Once your DRY Loop is setup you may then proceed with the setup for VoIP.

I apologize for the delays, but unfortunately I have been battling a cold (or the flu) for the last few days. I am just finishing up the custom order page. (Since we don't require credit card info we wont be able to use the standard one.) As soon as I launch the promo I will make an announcement here.

Best Regards,
Paul L.

Thanks, VelcomJoe, for your input. Can you confirm this, Paul?

In that case, how will it work if I want to sign up both the DSL and voip services from Acanac? Will Acanac ask Bell to set up the dry loop and assign me a voip phone number? How long will this whole process take? I have the modem and ATA though.

VelcomJoe is correct. We will simply attach your DSL service to your existing copper line. This is assuming it's owned by Bell. Please also keep in mind that Naked DSL does cost an extra $8 per month. It normally takes 5-7 business days to setup your connection.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

Suppose I use a cellphone as my homephone - I don't have a landline. A DSL account from Acanac is going to cost me about $100/year more?

That's right. If you don't have a landline you pay extra for a dry loop.

Has anyone tried Acanac's "online computer"?

I'm interested in that VOIP trial. I'm currently using my cell phone as my only phone line, and it can get a bit pricey, especially with long distance. If it works well, I'll definitely be willing to keep the service at the regular price.

I currently use my cell as means of phone communication. Had I got a landline phone, why would I want to use voip? If I've got to use a dry loop, then it adds up to about the the same price as a landline, maybe a little more.

Suppose I sign up with Bell's landline service and get the DSL service, will I be able to get voip and cancel Bell afterwards? Then I guess I'll need the dry loop again in order to keep the DSL.

Oh my, this is getting complicated...

We have started the Free 1 year Voip promo. You need to be logged out to see the Google banner here. I wont post a direct link in order not to break any of the rules.

In regards to your Naked DSL questions: Your correct. In the end it would cost an extra $8 dollars.

Best Regards,
Paul L.

How come I don't see any more banner ads once I log in?

The google ad for the 1 year VOIP trial appears on the left side only if I am NOT logged in. When viewing this page while not logged in, I click on the ad. It takes me to the Acanac homepage. There is no reference of any kind to the trial offer. I browsed through the other pages at the Acanac site, nothing seems different than normal, nothing about how to register for the trial.

What should I do?

We are running two adds. One is for DSL service and one for Free Voip service. The free Voip one can be found at the following URL:

If I am violating any rules by posting this link please do let me know.

Thanks. It worked this time.

Is it possible to port in a number at a later time when Acanac supports it? I guess for the time being I will be assigned a random 647 number.

The plain text google ad on the side for the VOIP trial and the graphic banner ad at the top for DSL special only appears when one is not logged in.

The google ad has on occasion taken me to the correct page for the VOIP offer. Other tines to the DSL offer. I have not tried it a few times with the banner ad but suspect there is some kind of randomization where the ads redirects.

The direct link helped.
