If a refunded is required you would be refunded the full amount.

Are you seriously at 1650 Dundas St? I have a client in the Dunwynn plaza.
We have been at this location since 2000. Our main data center is on the second floor next to the School of Dance. At this location we currently house nearly 600 servers. These servers are mainly for our sister company Canaca.com Acanac also has a small retail store on Bloor ST. in Toronto. Finally we also have space at 151 Front Street in downtown Toronto. Most of the DSL equipment is located at this location. The reason for this is that it's much more cost effective to interconnect with Bell at 151 Front street than at our Mississauga location.

If anyone is interested we do give tours of our facility. Nothing really special, but at least you get to see the physical equipment.

These are all related to latency in reaching our network. This could be traffic shaping taking place by your ISP that is causing that. We have run many test on the same hardware and we experience no such thing. Also please check your devices to make sure echo cancelation is turned on. Again echo is all related to latency and if you are on our free service once it reaches our network it goes out PRI's thus it is analog and there is no sound reduction. It would be no different then calling a bell client with a bell telephone. Please check your setup and your connections.

I doubt it's my internet connection, every test I did gave me a 4.2 to 4.5 VOIP quality, and my pings are usually fairly low (Teksavvy Peer1 routing). I'm not sure exactly what's happening, it seems to be mostly on Bell residential phones. For example if I call a cell phone it's not going to happen at all.

Also, I'm not the one hearing any echo, and they aren't hearing any echo either from *my* voice. From me to them the quality seems fine. The google ad has on occasion taken me to the correct page for the VOIP offer. Other tines to the DSL offer. I have not tried it a few times with the banner ad but suspect there is some kind of randomization where the ads redirects.

This is a tough situation. If we send Bell and it is in fact an internal wire issue they will end up charging you. In fact we just had a client that was charged $100 dollars because of a similar situation.

I'm currently using my cell as my primary phone line, and haven't really considered VoIP, but if there were a 1-year free trial, I would definately give VoIP a shot.

I also have a friend who is currently using Teliphone. A free trial might convince him to give Acanac a try, since your per-month fee is cheaper after the trial. We offer DSL phone support from 9AM to 12AM Monday through Friday. Your correct if the internet is down it would make it difficult to send an email. If the internet is competently down the the client has no way to gain access to the internet they would have to wait until the following day.

If your not getting the speeds your require it would probably be in your best interest to go with Rogers. The simple fact is that not all DSL clients will get 5Mbps. Your correct that we charge less than what Bell charges us. In fact it will takes us roughly 3 years before we make up the losses for every new DSL client. We loose about $7-$8 each and every month during the first year of service. These losses include bandwidth, Bell charges, tech support and and everything else thats involved in offering DSL service. Simply put we are subsidizing your DSL service from Bell.

Now the big question is how do we make money. The promo is only available on the first year of service and for new clients only. The second year prices for our DSL service go up to $33.95 per month based on a one year term. Our biggest concern is client attrition during the second year of service. Fortunately our client attrition rates have remained low. The fact that we offer extra free features with our DSL plans help keep the attrition rate low. For example we offer 100GB of storage with every DSL order and we will soon offer an Online PC cable of 24Mbps download and 15Mbps upload. We are currently taking Beta testers.

Lets go on to our Voip service:

Our Voip prices are not promos. What you see is what you get. Please keep in mind that our $9.95 plan is targeting clients that have a Voip ATA or will be buying one.
The features we offer are just a click on the server. We could charge more for each individual feature, but we don't have the marketing dollars of companies like Rogers or Bell. However, my speed profile is currently set by Bell Sympatico at 5056/800. I am planning to quit Sympatico when my unlimited contract expires towards the end of November.

I have one concern for Acanac though. I am afraid that the good speeds that I am enjoying right now with Acanac test drive won't necessarily reflect the reality once I quit Bell Sympatico.

There is a common problem regarding Acanac for ex-Sympatico members joining Acanac. They enjoyed good speeds with Sympatico, then all of a sudden speed profile problems when switched over to Acanac.

TekSavvy doesn't seem to have this problem of getting the best speed profile for their new customers. I remember Paul L. once mentioned that TekSavvy might have a dedicated Bell Rep working for it, but Acanac doesn't have one yet.

So I am afraid that the 5056/800 that I have right now with Sympatico, I won't be able to get the same thing with Acanac, despite the fact that I am test driving Acanac @ 5056/800 right now.

These are not issues within the control of any 3rd party DSL provider. They are within the domain of the telco - viz Bell.
