Cripes! I saw two other balloons last night that launched with the one which caught fire. I was about five miles north of the launch area and didn't see the burning balloon. I did snap a few pictures of the two as they flew overhead not knowing of the spectacle they must have witnessed earlier.
Man, I can't imagine what it would be like being up in a balloon and seeing one next to you go down in flames. Scary, reeeeally scary! -- You're jealous because the voices only talk to me.

Vinet said police have questioned and released a 71-year-old driver, who is in shock. They have ruled out drugs or alcohol as factors and say it is too early to talk about laying charges.
The accident took place on a rural road with no lighting in an area where there's a mix of homes and agricultural operations.
Jagdish Gill, whose daughter is a friend of the bride, told The Canadian Press that the group was walking towards the bride's house in a traditional Indian procession.
"They had drums in the front," she said. "They were going to have a van in the front, a blinking van, but it got there a little late."
"That's what we do in India, but here not many people do that. But they thought they were in a farm (area) so they can do that thing because (there are) not that many cars on the road."
Battis said it appears the wedding will proceed on Sunday. -- -- Internet News My BLOG My Web Page |

this is the second balloon crash in the last few months...i think people need to realize that we are in 2007 now...why anyone would go up in a balloon in today's age is beyond me...why not simply take your car onto the 401 and remove the steering wheel and brakes if you're into "random" transportation? |

More people are killed on the 401 with the steering wheel and brakes firmly attached than in ballooning accidents. It is a safe, fun and gentle means of enjoying an afternoon or morning while floating through the sky using technology that is fundamentally safe although accidents do occur from time to time like they do with anything from bicycles to gliders to bungee jumping. Being up in a hot air balloon is like being in a tall building rather than an airplane: since you move with the air currents around you, there's no wind in your face and no engine noise other than the burner every few minutes. -- All of us get lost in the darkness, dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter, dreamers turn to look at the cars -- Peart/Lee/Lifeson Join Team Helix |
