Very nice... but Rush Hour 2? Come on!

I see you have your download speed limit set to about 1 MB/s. If you set it to unlimited, what kind of throughput are you able to achieve? Also, I'm curious if you're able to do this 24/7, or are your torrents only run during non-peak hours? Lastly, are you in a densely populated node?

EDIT: Spelling mistake

That is 1MegaByte/sec - 8mbps(max I can achieve from Comcast without PowerBoost)

BTW, I was downloading Weeds(TV show?).
Anytime I download a "popular" torrent. regardless of TOD, it cooks!
Rush Hour 3 is in the downloads folder - been there for a while now.

Densely populated? Unknown... look at Hercules,CA.

EDIT: changed 2 to 3

Gotcha. You set your max download speed to around 1 MB/s (lower right hand corner of Azureus) because that's your base modem download speed. I just set mine to "unlimited" for downstream and am careful to only allot about 500 kbps upstream for torrents so my VPN and IP camera still work properly. I have 10 Mbps downstream available, but rarely do I ever manage over 3 Mbps torrents. Although... my downloads are usually stuff that's much more obscure than Rush Hour or Weeds, so my torrents are not likely to be seeded as well. Then of course there's always the traffic shaping that my company uses...

I hope things stay like they currently are for you -- 8 Mbps / 1 MB/s torrent downloads all the time would freakin rawk!

That would likely be inefficient, though. The Internet is a shared service, from the upload bandwidth of his peers to the WAN side of his router. If he actually wants to watch the movie in an hour, fine. But if he wants to watch it tomorrow, it might be more efficient and considerate to spread out his usage a bit.

It may sound old fashioned -- Ham Radio operators are used to the idea of using the "minimum power necessary to carry out the desired communications" -- but P2P **is** "sharing." We should practice what we preach.

Uhm, I didn't set anything. By default, VUZE/Azureus is maxed out.

What you see in the lower right is CURRENT speed, not the setting.

My Comcast always has a tendency to piss folks off - well, sorry!

I like it!

Yep, I see that now. I didn't notice that the "1014.9 KB/s" wasn't enclosed in brackets, and therefore showed your current speed rather than your max speed (like your upstream just to the right of it). Serves me right for just quickly glancing.

No matter what, your BT speeds make me jealous.

kickin ass?

Rush hour 3 I see 14 seeds at least you could connect to and you are NOT connected to ANY OF THEM and YOUR upload speed is ZERO even though you set it to infinity. What you did upload was done during the download time.

the only ass anything here, is comcast owning yours!!! lol

Uhm... mines is kickin a$$!
anyway there is no kickin a$$ in your 2nd image. Your UL speed on rush hour is ZERO and you are connected to ZERO peers when you could be connected to at least 14. Your uploading is ZERO even though you have it set to unlimited/infinity. The only uploading you have done is during your downloading phase odds are. This is the problem. i.e. just seeding is hosed. uploading while downloading is ok since comcast needs to let you connect to peers to get the file else you would be screaming holly hell so it is then you get a chance to upload some.

comcast ain't just kickin, they are pwning your a$$

ahhh interesting if you use a$$ more than once (maybe twice since I quoted you and you use it too which is why I used it) it does not get posted. I went and redid the first post and then it showed up only after I used a$$ instead

If you read the posts(apparently you didn't) Rush Hour 3 has been in my download folder for a while(think weeks/months).

*NOTE: I do not run VUZE/Azureus often at all.

Those files are QUITE old, and someone would have to REQUEST that file in order for my machine to start uploading.
If you look closely, there are 0(14) - that's ZERO of 14 peers downloading that file from me.
aka, no one wants it.
Of course my upload will be 0 if no one is wanting the file... right?

As for my BT downloads... they usually max out my 8mbps(1MB/sec) line - as shown in the screen shot(s).

So... yeah, BT is alive and well here at this house.
I just don't really have a use for it!
I prefer Direct Downloads(there is no uploading).

LOL!

EDIT: Look at this pic, see what it says about that blue ball(connection status indicator)
NO ONE is connecting - no one is wanting to download.
Whether this is Comcast or that this file is not popular... we may never know.

Also note my download speed - 1001KB/sec... uhm, pretty much all of my 8mbps, right?

I prefer DDL sites.
*NO* Uploading required.
Direct Download... no BS!

I want to show you something... a DDL site listing of "Comedy" DVD rips that I can download RIGHT NOW and max my connection doing so.

See pic.
Pay close attention to the FIRST listed movie.
*YOU* have to wait until Aug 28th... I don't!

BT is old, tired, and it looks like some of you are being restricted/throttled.
Oh well!
At this point in time, *IF* I want to download something from BT... I can.
Thing is... why?

Wow, you dont have a clue. 14 people who cant connect to you because Comcast blocked them.

Pretty simple.

Get your facts straight.

Did ANY of you read the article?

"The company doesn't actively look at the applications or content that its customers download over the network. But Comcast does reserve the right to cut off service to customers who abuse the network by using too much bandwidth."

The majority of people bitching are doing so because they get slow DOWNLOADS

I can tell you all why my uploads suck - but most here refuse to understand...
The files I download are NOT popular.
Yeah, there are 14 people apparently ABLE to connect and download from me(how else can the program list those 14?)...
*BUT* they apprently DO NOT want that file!

I do not use BT - it's for noobs!
I get max speeds from my private sites(DDL sites, no uploading).
Directly downloading from a dedicated server... who needs BT? LMAO!

So, next time you think *I* don't have a clue... think again frined!

Look at Sanctuary, 0(7) but I am still getting 890KB/sec.
"0" people are wanting that file! Explain that pal!

Ok, look at Pink Floyd, 2(109) and they bust want that file - or are just checking that the downloader(ME) is uploading as well... some people like to cut off non-uploaders.
*AND* it kinda looks like I am uploading Pink Floyd - albeit probably just for checking upload-ability.

Either way, *I* don't freakin care!
I am addressing that Comcast DOES NOT throttle BT DOWNLOADS as per this news article. DUH!

Some, I don't mind - friends...
BT is so tired anymore, I got tired of it!
I have found DDL sites usually have what I'm looking for, have dedicated servers(or hosts), and *NO* uploading!

The thing most people cannot understand... I already have most of it(*it* being software/music/movies/???) that I will ever want.
The RARE new movie... DDL! Fuck waiting for BT! Plus, I hate Cams!
*I* get DVD rips!
Many times, while the movie is still in theaters!
