| Don't Use Comcast I can understand the saturation issues Comcast is facing. Yet I can also understand the fact that many companies utilize BT for their products as do I to distribute my work (photographer).
To uniformly blanket the entire network with their throttling methods is not only wrong, it should be illegal.
P2P is not illegal. BitTorrent is not illegal. What they need to do is focus on individuals who use the most bandwidth and address the issue on an individual basis.
Many people, myself included, use the BT network for completely legal reasons and now since we are not able to, feel as if Comcast is breaching their own TOS by not providing us the services which we are paying money for.
They continue to market their services as "unlimited" while hiding behind their cleverly written TOS using terms such as "excessive" and "too much" yet they will never give a concrete definition of said terms.
I am now looking into Bellsouth DSL, the only other broadband provider in my area. The speeds are not as fast as Comcast, but at least they actually let their users upload. | |

Comcast has made profits hand-over-fist.
Last year, they made over $2.5 Billion after taxes and all expenses. That's on top of the $1 Billion they made in each of the two years before that. This year is looking bright, too -- $1.4 Billion as of June 30th!
This is a company that can afford to widen the tubes if it chooses to. The USA is far behind the broadband curve -- and the free market is not keeping up (because we don't have a free market when it comes to broadband -- most of us have only one or two choices).
